Bitsy, we're in the same position as you although we have had a couple of viewings this side of Christmas. One aren't even on the market, the second thought our garden too small. I did query with our EA how many gardens on housing estates are bigger than ours in our town - he had to think for a couple of mins before replying only two! Our problem is that we've found somewhere that we love. Hey oh, what will be, will be.

Have you managed to find an area that you like near your DH's work? I doubt that I can help but as I'm in that general direction, if you have any questions, just shout.

Bitsy :eek::eek: is Luna OK? That dog has the typical Labrador affliction of cloth ears, methinks.

Mr LW is, thankfully, back to normal hours today.:T The data centre move is complete, and as far as anyone's aware, all systems are working withing accepted parameters.:T He loved his HM Shepherd Spy dinners - I made them a while ago, when the move was first scheduled, and froze them, and he took one Sunday and one Monday, as I didn't fancy cooking dinner at 22:30, plus it wouldn't do his digestion much good to eat his main meal that late. I still have two Shepherd Spies in the freezer, so I'll schedule those on the meal plan for the next time he's on late shift (Monday 11th February) as I usually make either Shepherd Spy or lasagne the day before and we nuke the 2nd half when he's on late shift, it'll save me bothering to make something, and will use them up.
Jacket spuds with baked beans tonight.;)

The greenhouse is officially dead; we shall dismantle it this weekend. I think I have to reluctantly admit that gardening is now beyond me;:( it's just too painful, and I don't have the necessary strength/energy any more. It's something Mr LW loathes doing, too, so there's no fun to be had doing it together really; we shall just do the minimum necessary to keep the outside space looking reasonable, and that'll be it.:(

I may experiment with a few herbs indoors on the kitchen windowsill - I grow basil indoors anyway; anyone got any thoughts as to what other herbs would be good grown indoors from seed?:o

    Hello all,

Bitsy we went through exactly the same thing last year, I know how you feel. Think we are going to give ourselves until the end of the year and see how things are with finances and jobs etc. then maybe put the house back on the market. I know you don't have that luxury hopefully a good buyer will come along soon.
I'm trying to get a new business off the ground at the moment with very little capital but I really think its a good idea so making baby steps with that. Still waiting for my crb to come through. I'm hoping going back to the teaching is just a short term thing but we will have to see.
Dh is booked up for the rest of the week thank goodness, we always knew January would be dire money wise and it has been, but as they say things can only get better.
Didn't manage a run yesterday but will definitely go today, whatever the weather. Dd is off to Brussels next month and ds2 is going to Berlin with his mates. It's my birthday in Feb and would absolutely love a little break but will be making do with a nice meal and a bottle of wine.
Managed to make £70 on eBay this week so that's gone in the pot and will help this month.
No idea for tea tonight will have a mooch around in the freezer, not very OS I know but will rustle something up.
Have a good day whatever your up to J x

Dangers I take any feedback with a pinch of salt about our house. First viewing they were here for less than 5 mins and said it wasn't big enough. Do people read room dimensions these days? :rotfl: we are looking at Frome area if you're anywhere near? Good luck with selling your house. I've been watching a few I like and they're slowly selling but not trying to get attached too much for that reason.

LW oh yes you have Lunas measure there, definitely cloth ears :rotfl: she is OK, my nerves however are shot to pieces and ended up snivelling for the rest of our walk :o sorry gardening is no longer an option for you. Why not ask on Greenfingered board of there are any houseplants you can grow from seed. I haven't got a clue about herbs as I only grow basil inside like you.

Julie best of luck with your new venture x

LW maybe you could grow a few things in pots on the old greenhouse space - how about tumbler tomatoes in a low-level hanging basket so you could reach them, as they don't take any "gardening" as such apart from watering?

Also, flat-leaf parsley and coriander will be happy inside during the cooler months, and outside in sunnier warmer (?! :rotfl:) months. I think you already grow rosemary, how about sage too? Or a bay tree? All will only need to be watered once they're settled in pots.

And do you like rhubarb? That will be quite happy left alone until Mr LW cuts some to stew or make crumple or pie or fool ;)

Hope that gives you a little food for thought :D

Afternoon all, was at a meeting all day yesterday in the big smoke, but today was clear so slept late, went to gym (first time in about 3 weeks and my hip was really getting bad without the physios exercises) and then blitzed the bathroom, kitchen and lounge. Have a friend coming for tea tomorrow so I've concentrated on the rooms she'll see! Am now shattered and aching so going to have a cup of tea and then shower.
Dinner is going to be some wraps with loads of veg in them. Lunch was tuna and cucumber sandwich.
Paid my self-assessment yesterday and with it being so soon after Xmas i am really going to struggle for a few weeks unless I suddenly get a big job in.
    Cup of Tea calls.............

All your talk of house selling is making me nervous, I am presently waiting for the EA to call!

    May be back later.

    Take care. XX

Thanks, floss; yes, I have a huge rosemary bush, fairly close to the back door.:D I can't seem to keep sage alive, but will try again; I like rhubarb a lot - will see if perhaps Mr LW can dig out the deceased gooseberry, and maybe plant a crown of rhubarb in its place; I may have to use a fairly heavy bribe,;) as he really doesn't like gardening one bit.

Ooh, coriander - good idea;:T I have a recipe for carrot'n'coriander soup from a fellow Mensan that I've yet to try out....

I used to grow toms in pots - Red Alert, and when I could no longer get those, Gardeners Delight. Never tried the tumbler variety before - not sure about hanging baskets - we'd have to attach them to the back of the house, and I think they'd be a bit of a hazard. Maybe if/when we get the patio re-laid (this has been a "job to be done" for about 5 years, as has refitting the kitchen) we can see what can be done.;)

The greenhouse didn't really have a "space" as such - it was a free-standing item taking up about 6 square feet (I think) of the patio.:o

Will chives grow indoors, I wonder? I guess the answer is to plant some and see.;)

Bed came before I had to leave for the lawyers, so it is now in the de-fluffed space in DS room, my word it is high! Very comfy though, so may well have one similar when I get round to doing my bedroom! Took DS to the big blue Swedish shop to pick chest of drawers and wardrobe, fortunately for the bank balance he went for the cheaper ones, brought home chest and his little female friend built it for him, lazy boy! Wardrobe being delivered tomorrow between 7am and 7pm:eek: as it was too long for the car! So tomorrow he has the wardrobe to empty and remove, think my neighbour wants it for her grandsons room, he lives with her (long story) and has some issues with his temper, so goes through furniture often, his bed is currently in the garden awaiting pick up by the binmen!!! Once new wardrobe built and installed that will be his room almost done, just a large picture frame holding various pics of the family to hang and that will be that room done, just mine to excavate next, and I am leaning towards getting someone in to do fitted wardrobes floor to ceiling to avoid dust collection on the tops! My room needs decorated and a new carpet too, so will be a much bigger task!

Parsley, chives, oregano and coriander all grow really well from seeds. We also grow indoor rocket and just take thinnings for baby leaf salad.

I have seen lots of seeds recently in HB, B&M and the Pound shop.
