Barclaycard and 'Leisure Time' scam. Help please?

Hi Sue
As you suggest, Space Bags may be the culprit.
There is somebody complaining about the same thing on Space Bags Facebook page on 1st Nov 2012:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Space-Bags/141547682538329
Here's their comment:"Space Bags UK have sold or given my details to a dodgy company called Leisure Time based in Spain who after a trial period will take £99 a year from me for the membership that I have not signed up for. I can't find any details about Leisure Time on the internet and the only method of contact is a premium rate telephone number that I have to call to cancel. So not happy with this behaviour!"
Other 'victims' seem to be saying that they were called up by Space bags to ask if the product was OK, and offered a brochure. But what was not made clear was that the brochure was part of a 30 day free trial for a membership program that costs £99.99 per year.
Did something similar happen to you? Did you use your Barclaycard to pay for the Space Bags?
If so, I guess you can contact Barclaycard and say you were mis-led in the phone call, and you weren't clearly told you were agreeing to a CPA.0 -
OK.
Is it really rubbish though?
Sue
YES.....
I deal with people with these issues on a daily basis.
So I'm well aware that once they have been contacted they do as they were asked. Unlike many other companies.....
As well as the fact that so long as you have cancelled anything further can be credited back to you by your bank.
Now go get that kettle on and relax in front of the TV for a bit
Oh sod it have a glass or 2 of wine :rotfl:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
If you have beened conned by this then question if you have bought anything such as Space Bags, Home Shopping cos you have been had. You may have had an innocuous phone call after your delivery saying something like "we hope you find our product to your satisfaction and would you mind if we send you our latest brochure" - sure no problem
That is the first step. Next you find yourself getting a brochure from Leisure Time (used to be break4Free, free&Easy, etc etc). Then your problems will start.
A letter and brochure will welcome you to the club, what club? well you are in it and they will deduct 99.99 on your next statement.
This is what you do:- Keep all of the records
- Contact your bank immediately, show them and tell them what is going on. (If debited form your CC then inform them giving all the info)
- Ring the number given (in my case 0844 8489561) and ask them where they got your info from, they may say we rang you and asked if you wanted to join. They may have rung but you in no way agreed to it, ask them to produce evidence of the phone call - they cant and they know it.
- Ask for cancellation of your "membership". They should do it otherwise they know they are in trouble. Note the time and date. Check your next monthly statement and ensure they have "refunded" the money, if not get back onto your band or CC supplier and request a "chargeback" form.
- Ring the Consumer Service on 08454 040500 and give them as much info as possible they will give you a reference number, keep it for future reference. In my case the local Trading Standards contacted me for further info.
- Contact the Data Protection Commisioner 0303 1231113 or 01625 545745
- Contact the police and TRY and get their involvement especially if they give you a crime number, it would appear that the sum 99.99 is really important to the people conning you, but dont fully understand why yet
- Go to your Search Engine and type in Leisure Time Scam 08448489561 - there are many sites but the one i used was 08448489561 - whocallsme from 08448489561
Wish I knew how to contact Dom Littlewood, any ideas?0 -
Alternatively, just phone up and cancel.0
