What card are leisure time charging, your Barclay debit card or Barclay credit card?

I remember leisure time from about 7 years ago, a leaflet stuffed in with my Barclaycard statement offering me £80 worth of free petrol for a free trial.

Obviously they bank on people not cancelling these things, or not bothering to claim the rebate (it was a long winded process involving sending off a receipt each month), but I cancelled free of charge and they honoured the deal, each rebate arrived as a cheque for the next few months, so they're not that much of a scam, just relying on the actions of the minority to make their money.

Anyway on to your issue, you'll need to contact the company to tell them you no longer want to continue and they'll cancel it. Additionally, contact Barclays and tell them you withdraw consent for the payment to be taken (you'll almost certainly have inadvertently given authorisation for a CPA to be taken - cancelling your card won't do this, Barclaycard will continue to honour the payment even if you close the account, and you'll still be liable - so ensure you make it clear to BC that you want the payment cancelled).

    Hello,
    thanks for replies and advice.
I didn't use my barclay debit and deffo not the barclay credit card.
I thought it was my Lloyds debit - now I'm wondering if I used a John Lewis credit card! - now going to check receipts and statements.
I also googled the Spanish address and a 'who called me ' website came up. Deliberately I don't answer calls I don't recognise so if they called me and say I agreed they are not telling the truth.
Aswell as Ideal World, Space Bags was mentioned by the 'who called me' website - yes I did order, over the internet, Space Bags before Christmas. Deffo didn't knowingly click on any other special offers of any kind - don't do that on principle.
Haven't called the number yet - got plenty of time.
People on the 'who called me' website have said they ignore any cancellation and debit the amount anyway!!!!:(
Someone said I can go into bank (once I work out which debit card I used!) and tell them I don't give permission for any payment to be taken by these people?
I'm definitely emailing my local Trading Standards and some Fraud department in this country has been suggested too.
Please watch out anyone else if this is happening to you.
Apparently this has been going on for some time. :(
    Thanks for helpful thoughts/advice all.

A couple of points. Don't bother reporting as its not fraud.
To complain speak to the co and find out who passed the details to them.
    Then complain to them....

If enough people complain to the co's that partner with the likes of shoppers discount & leisure time. The more likely this is going to stop.

Find out what card details they hold.... Then contact the card provider and advise them of the stop date.

Never seen these co's debit after they have been called. In fact they even refund money taken....
Do you think a fraudster would do that..

All these people who say they keep debiting are the type of people who never notice they have been debiting for years and have never cancelled with the co's.
Never ASSUME anything its makes a

    Oh dear,
Been worrying about this all day now.
Space Bags seem to be a common theme. Several on Whocallsme have said they received a call from Space bags asking if they were happy with the purchase....yes.......I had that call too and at no point did anyone invite me to join any holiday scheme, discount anything.
Apparently when people call them to cancel and say they never asked to join anything, they are told that a voice recording of the conversation is held. When challenged they say they'll play it to them but never phone back with the so called voice recording.
Other people who this has happened to are saying that even when they've phoned the number to cancel, they have still had the membership amount taken from their account!
Go check out the 'whocallsme' website.
Still rifling through receipts and statements (wish I were tidier with these things!) would be much simpler and quicker.
    Thanks again.

Look - with all due respect, you're worrying yourself by reading the rubbish that people post on the internet, when they don't understand what they've done and how things work.

Dalesrider has given you some excellent advice here. Please stop googling and act on it.

Edit - too slow - a scarily similar post a few minutes earlier!

    OK.
    Is it really rubbish though?
People all seem to have the same accounts.
Home Shopping is what it says on the delivery form that came with the parcel.
Is that the same outfit then?
Trying not to worry and just get on with it! :o
