Car not driving properly not long after filling with diesel....coincidence?

My car is booked in at a garage but they can't get it in until Thursday but just wanted some advice about whether to drive it or not until then?

I have a 12 plate Citroen DS3 which until this morning was driving fine. I put some diesel in this morning and had been driving for about 5 mins when I came onto a dual carriageway, as I accelerated the car started "chugging" and would not go about 50mph and then seemed very sluggish.

Is this anything to do with the diesel i put in (yes it was definitely diesel and NOT petrol) or just a coincidence?

And did you fill up at a supermarket perchance?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • any warning lights? you might need to go to a garage and get the ECU 'brain' checked as that may identify the error code where the problem is. Just been reading a thread on this!

sure enough its for DS3 with this problem. Seems to happen in low revs as you try to build power. I am no tech geek so a lot of that thread became hard to follow. The ECU unit certainly looks to be one area that can spot the issue.

Is it used mainly for short journeys?

If so it could be the diesel particulate filter.

Why is the fill up important? Did you put diesel in a petrol engine?

As to the supermarket fuel debate. Lets not go round that loop again.

I read it again. Answer no as it would have been mixed with existing fuel in the tank.
