Can you believe this

The company agreed to lend me some money to enable me to do something that they want me to do yet I can't afford to do at the moment it was agreed that they would lend me the money and I would pay it back at £100 per month today I get my wage slip they've took the first instalment but they haven't lent me any money yet even thou it was agreed it would be paid in this months payroll
Going to find it very hard to keep calm tomorrow when I inform them

  • Be very polite! Could well be an honest mistake, and they don't have to lend you the money.
  • They made a mistake....geez

I can't believe the lack of punctuation in the OP!

OP, before speaking to your employer, calm down.

If they don't lend the money, they have no basis to deduct repayments!

I think we need to remember that very many people are on lowish pay and tight budgets where being £100 short on a paypacket risks not only leaving them without the money to get them through the month but also could put them in the position of having their credit trashed.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Obviously they have made a mistake and not included the loan (OP - speak to HR tomorrow and I'm sure they will be able to sort that out) BUT presumably the loan isn't for rent or bill payments, so if the OP can't manage with this £100 deduction they can't afford to take the loan anyway!

OP Did you sign anything for the deductions to take place?

Notmally if a company give you a loan say for a season ticket you sign a form and a copy is sent to payroll. If they have no such form who told them to deduct from you.

    Go and ask!

I am sure the OP said they havent lent any money yet and it can not be a mistake its an illegal deduction

So with not giving the OP any loan the payroll team just deducted an amount under whos authority?

I can see AP007's point. The mistake was not paying over the loan. The illegal deduction is taking a payment for a non existent loan.
