Sorry to hear your problems but it looks like you have well and truly joined the club.
I switched to SP in March and am still waiting for my first and final bill. They are so bad I switched suppliers after 6 weeks!
Suggest you look through some of the posts about SP on this forum and acquaint yourself with how to complain to the Ombudsman because, no doubt, you will need them in the next few weeks.
If it's any consolation thousands of us are in a similar position to you!

I switched to SP just under a yr ago, 12mth contract coming to an end soon:j.
I will be switching again as I was unimpressed. Initially I couldn't access my personalised switching website, they underestimated my gas and overestimated my electric meter readings on the same bill - who doesn't use any gas between the months of Oct-Dec???? Then eventually in May they decided my dd had to increase by £45 a month to cover the difference even though I phoned and told them I couldn't afford that much of an increase. I've stiil yet to sit down and go thru my bills to unravel it all just to double check they've not messed up.
Beware -you have been warned lol.:rotfl:0 -
Hi, I have decided today to leave Scottish Power after selling a house and numerous phone calls, one call I waited 41 minutes and was then cut off, 3 phone calls to change an email address on my account, Ive decided to move to Sainsburys Energy lets see if they can do any better.0

I have been with Scottish Power for over 3 years and they have been fine until a year ago when I needed to select a new tariff. I had quite a large increase but could not do better elsewhere at the time; I'd obviously been on a very good tariff with them at that point. Anyway last year it was a nightmare getting through to them to discuss changing tariff; this was prior to them switching to an 0800 number. It was also around the time they were switching to their new billing system. Anyway it was sorted in the end. Then early this year I discovered by accident that they had stopped sending me email requests for meter readings and I'd had an estimated bill generated. Rang up and got it all sorted out. The real thing that (had) resigned me to leaving them at the end of my current tariff which has early exit fees is the really poor response to my complaints about the above poor service - they were lame and unapologetic; I was not out of pocket, there was no requirement for compensation; all they had to do was give some explanation and an apology which they failed to do; what would it have cost them?
Now I see that MSE has a Scottish Power offer under the Energy Club big switch which is lower than my current tariff. It makes me consider staying with them if MSE are going to give them a chance. One thing I am wondering is if they would charge me the early exit fees on by current tariff if the switch is via MSE rather than themselves? A couple of days to find out and decide.0 -
I would rather pay more than be with Scottish Power. Simply awful service. I still don't have a gas account even though it transferred in May.Je suis sabot...0

I have also posted this elsewhere on the site as I didnt originally see this thread but thought it probably should be here for anyone thinking of joining Scottish Power to see.
Hi
I too am locked in a battle with Scottish Power. No way have they sorted anything out. I joined them with a fixed tariff through MSE Energy club last November. In February a bill appeared on my account, after a meter reader came out and read the electricity meter only, despite me having dual fuel. The bill gave me an accurate reading for electricity and an estimate for gas. In March a further bill appeared with estimates for both. My account showed my next bill was due in June 2014. In preparation in June I submitted my meter readings. No new bill! This continued until the 1st October when I submitted further readings. Nothing changed. I emailed them and received a reply stating that as this issue required more detailed action on my account I would hear within 30 days and my account would be updated. ( More detailed work! I was only wanting an up to date bill based on my meter readings!) So 30 days later no reply. I then emailed again through their complaints process. I received an email stating that I would receive a response within 5 working days. 5 working days later no response, so I sent an email complaining about them not responding to my complaint to which, yes you guessed it, I received an email stating I would receive a response within 5 working days. So I thought it might be better dealt with by phone.
What I was told has completely dumbfounded me.
They have a known 'software issue'. Their system will not accept my readings and they cannot provide me with a bill. Meanwhile I continue to pay every month by direct debit not knowing if I owe them money or if they owe me. By next month without any accurate bills for 12 months my account stands to be £1000 in credit. They do not know when this situation will be rectified and as my fixed rate ends in November this year and I do not want to remain with them I would like to take advantage of the Big Switch (not to Scottish Power I might add) but have been told they probably wont close my account as they cannot resolve my situation. I have been told a complaints advisor will contact me within 5 working days. I am NOT holding my breath.
I am well and truly stuck between a rock and a hard place. So for anyone out there thinking of switching to Scottish Power my advice would be don't do it. These aren't teething problems this is a fundamental deep rooted issue with Scottish Power and there are posts all over the internet highlighting the same issue.0 -
As above, I am in a similar situation but just for gas. It is not hard to work out where you are if you have meter readings and then you can adjust your DD acordingly. If you need help, pm me.
I have been told that they will make up a bill manually if you leave. I wouldn't want to leave with them owing me money.
They are just awful in every way and as soon as the Ombudsman has done his work, I am off as soon as possible.Je suis sabot...0 -
I am leaving SP, after 7 years - hurrah! Logged on last night to enter meter readings, as I do every month and whoa! Unable to add them, as they have removed the tab. Everything else is still there, except now we have two accounts at the same address - never, ever seen that before.
Our switchover date is 10th November, (Extra Energy) so I thought I better keep an upto date track, with photos of our usage. I also cancelled our DD for 1st of this month, so we wouldn't be in excess of £350 in credit. No wonder things go wrong - they just want to make things as difficult as possible.
I sent them a snot-o-gram, with readings in it, received an automated reply "we will contact you within 5 days". I'll be on the phone to them tomorrow -
