From reading all the comments made on this post in detail, it appears that EDF also send Direct Debit confirmation by email, that makes more sense if you have an online account. They are not consistant in the way they operate. Save Paper = Save Forest - I guess they are not too GREEN

I logged into my EDF account this morning and my Electricity account has disappeared, DD for Gas/Electric was taken from my Bank this morning. On all my previous online utility accounts they always had a full History of my DD payments, EDF just give a running balance. I would recommend keeping a seperate note of your payments from your Bank to EDF and double check when you receive a bill from EDF. A bill is issued when you give a Reading= an increase in your DD Payments by default - from reading feedback, unless you spend time and appeal against it! I'll check my usage after winter and if i'm in credit for +1 month payment, i'll give a Reading and demand a refund for the surplus and a reduction in my future DD Payments. :DIf i'm in the Red, i'll keep quiet and wait for a Reading on demand in 12 months time? and offer to pay the balance with by cashback credit card to keep my account in order!

Not impressed.
I've been on fixed until April 2014, but won't be staying.
1. direct debits are random and get changed at random times. Even when in credit they have been doubled or trebled without explanation.
2. Online billing is very primitive and often doesn't work. Lacks a lot of features like graphing usage. Actively discourages giving regular meter readings.
3. Meter readers are surely and unpleasant. EDF doesn't take responsibility for them. Bins are often left lying on their side after being thrown aside to access meter. Callers don't knock and show their id or call in advance as required on our account notes. We have an autistic son who requires advance notice of callers and EDF have broken disability laws several times without ever replying to complaints.0 -
Out of curiosity, has anyone had a snafoo with being popped onto the wrong tariff when switching via Cheap Energy Club? I'm not entirely sure what happened, whether it was me, the site or Money Supermarket but did a comparison on the Cheap Energy Club site, chose Martin's 'best pick' with EDF and went through the steps of setting up a switch when the page forwarded. Brilliant. However I received the paperwork through today and I've been put onto the Standard Variable tariff? Most peculiar. I hope it was just me trying to sort out one too many things of a late night and not a problem with the technology whatchamacallit behind the scenes.
Going to call customer services on Monday and bash at switching - I hope I get it right this time. :j:D I have my fingers crossed that having a tiny smidge of security regarding price rises for the next year or so will help me sort out my finances and give me the chance to clear some of my debts if I can. :money:

been with edf now 2 years. when I transferred off bg it took a while 2 months for elec and 4 months for gas, then I changed from pre payment to credit and that took a long time as the meter fitters did not know its a medium preasure supply to be fair neither did edf. since it was fitted had very little problems.
dd goes out on time for the correct amount, they sometimes lower the dd but I just phone or talk online to say put it back and they do without problem. I always fine there cs is great0 -
Just had confirmation that both my electricity and gas supply has successfully been switched from British Gas to EDF and is now showing as 'Live' on their website. It's taken a few months, with a few problems along the way (all caused by British Gas) but EDF worked through them and kept me up to date with what was happening.
So far I am impressed with them and have the added bonus of paying less per month.

Been with EDF for several years now and have never had a problem with them. I submit quarterly meter readings for both gas and electricity and pay cash. No messing about with DDs. No questions over meter readings. Simple and straightforward and has always worked for me.0

absolutely carp. We changed to them in november on a 3 year fixed rate and I have already applied to good energy to get out, the change is in progress. I have been with good energy previously and they were excellent. I am fed up with edf not taking up a direct debit, messing me about and changing my rate after I decided to pay via the net, rather than costs mounting. I have sent half a dozen e mails and rung them three times about wanting to pay
EDF now want to set up another dd, well no way are they getting access now. I will pay what I owe as and when I get billed and getting rid of edf cannot come soon enough0 -
'No messing about with DDs'. Me neither housebug. Quarterly readings and quarterly biils are what I prefer and hopefully the first ones will be coming along soon. Ok, I pay a little more but sometimes I think it's worth it after I read on here about the D/D hassles folks have.

They appear to be working in some other time continuum for me at the moment. DD is set for on/after 5th month, and they took it today.
Looks like I need to read the riot act ... again.43580
