This was promised as recently as 2019. However, it seems that Parliament was misled because BEIS has torn up this promise ...Ofgem used to make the same promise, but scrapped it when BIS renegedIt's a principle of the unwritten British constitution that no Parliament can bind the hands of a later one."Promises" from Government departments are meaningless; if they were intended to be meaningful they would have written it into law, which would then have required a repeal or amendment of the law.See also the state pension triple lock.N. From a practical standpoint, we will all have smart meters in the long run simply because 'dumb meters' will no longer be manufactured. As these dumb meters reach the end of their useful life they will have to be replaced by smart meters.

Is anyone on the EDF Eco 20:20 tariff? Do you know the times that the cheaper rate kicks in. I know it is all weekend and was 9pm until 7am weekdays but think it has changed now its British Summer Time 10pm until 8am. Have tried to get hold of edf to get confirmation but no joy so far.0

The Eco20:20 tariff is set to GMT times, which means when the clocks change to British Summer Time, your off-peak times will be 10pm until 8am on weekdays.1

As I am already with EDF I have decided to go for their 2 year gas fix. It will work out about £10 a month more than we pay at the moment but does offer some security. We use about 8 kw's per month.1
