I was with them for a few years for duel fuel until 2012. The only bills I received from them for these few years were estimated bills as they couldn't be bothered to read the meter, and they rarely sent out bills. I contacted them the day after I moved out and gave a meter reading, didn't hear a thing until May this year, from a collections agency, as they had sold my debt. The debt covered 13 months and went past the time that I'd moved out. Apparently they didn't record my readings or my new address, so they didn't have them, but they accepted a meter reading 4 months after I left from the agency (who never refunded my deposit so are hardly legit). I'm now spending my time trying to sort out their mess. Honestly, steer clear, they are worse than useless.

Estimated my final reading, taking no notice of my usage for same period last year. According to their final bill "this period last year 67 kWh" "this bill 689 kWh" so they overestimated the final reading tenfold, took £126 by direct debit before I had time to close it and are now asking for another £42.

1st July their final estimated reading was 58900, actual reading was 58308.
Its now the 24th August and meter only reads 58624.

I have spent hours on this, emails, phone calls, online messaging and got nowhere after almost 2 months trying.
I am now considering taking them to the small claims court to get my money back.

Thanks for that but will have to wait a couple of weeks as it says 8 weeks or deadlocked.
Seeing as if I don't pay them what I owe, they will take CC action, why shouldn't I when they don't refund me?

Plus I could bill them for the 3 hours I have wasted trying to make them see sense.
Reading previous posts seems same issues happening over last few years.

Genuine mistake or deliberate money grabbing??

It took them about an hour to reply to my complaint when I made it via their web chat (it was 'tough'). I call that a deadlock so it may be worth a try. Just tell EDF that you're going to the ombudsman, it should put a halt to any action.

They are the worst company I've ever used. SSE were a lot better (I'm with them now). They send people out to read the meters, or will send you an email asking you to do it for them. They send regular bills so you know where you are. Total opposite of EDF.

You did speak today in your other posts about "jumping".
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

If your case is solid and you have the evidence to show that you don't owe them anything then let them take you to court and they will lose. Why go to the bother and expense of starting legal action yourself?

You don't explain what their case is but you need to be sure you are completely in the right.
