I agree with others, I really dislike npower. Havent had a bill for over a year now. Their website doesnt show me how much I'm using ever though I've submitted meter readings. My advice is to avoid them.0

Had to wait 6 months for my first bill, to then find out they had transposed my readings (Economy 7 meter - regular readings given by me)
Complained but was told bills would average themselves out , complained further only to be told new computer system was being introduced so nothing could be done until new system up and running.
12 months after joining, second bill arrives still with transposed readings, more complaints, engineer comes to my house and agrees with my meter readings, npower still insist their readings are correct.
After further investigation (and a lot of chasing up by me....) they finally agree that they're wrong.
So after nearly 14 months of never really knowing when my day time and night time rates should apply, numerous emails, phone calls and meter readings they offered me £80 credit on my bill.
I should have took them to the ombudsman but I just want away from this bunch of cowboys.
I'm not saying they're the worst company I've ever dealt with, but they're certainly in the top one............0 -

Same problem, and they fobbed me off for months, but I recently had it resolved and £25 credit to the bill along with the get out charge waived if I decide to switch early.
I had to complain via the website to log the start of my complaint, and then contacted the ombudsman after the required 8 weeks.
They fixed the problem within a week of the ombudsman contacting them... what a coincidence."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
No real issues with npower other than the new computer system deciding to refund all my credit that was being built up for winter and jack up my DD instead. What this means is I might have a small debit on my account in spring when I've never gone into debit before. With this and the recently annouced price rise i can see my DD going up further. Kind of annoying as my current DD far exceeds my useage! At least the credit is sitting in my ISA0

Thanks, looks like that's what I'll have to do. I put in a complaint on their website this morning.
When I move house in the next few months I will not be using npower...0 -
I am currently on EDF Blue April 2014.
If I switch to NPower Dec 2017 fix my bill will increase by 36.25% - not by 2017 but by tomorrow.
An awful lot to pay, Martin, for 'peace of mind'.
I have already posted similar on EDF's April 2017 thread.

It's like the boards have got round the table and said to eachother,
'What in our wildest dreams is the biggest annual increase we could get through for the next four years...Right there's your Fix.'0 -
I switched to NPower and for some unknown reason they set my bill up with the wrong units.
It took over 6 months just for them to acknowledge the problem, after a huge amount of time on the phone, and most of the time arguing about it rather than sorting it out.
After 12 months and no proper bill production I decide to switch to be shot of them, I'd had enough stress, harassment and threat to my credit rating. £50 compensation did not even begin to make amends.
Unfortunately NPower did not correct the problem and misinformed the new supplier First Utility.
First Utility did at least correct the problem in about 6 weeks, however they failed to produce proper bills that reflect the usage, took months to get the proper monetary amount on the account, failed to correct their automated DD system, which meant they continued to take what they should not have done, based on treble the amount. Still the actual use is not on proper bills.
All historical record is low user use btw, as I have invested my own money in insulation, low energy lighting, etc. This failure also has knock on effects in their systems, as failing to keep the record messes up future use calculation and so exacerbates the problem for future billing, maybe even with another company....depending on how they work.
On experiencing this kind of terrible service I have decided to try and do something about it and set up an e-petition.......here it is:
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/56280
Apparently some on here think this is an affront for me to post this in relevant threads........hmmmmm has this forum lost something since it was sold off to private industry?
Feel free to support it or not, and post to friends if you wish to help.0 -
Npower: no corporation tax in three years and £35million in bonuses for bosses:
“Npower was structured so that interest was paid from its UK operation to cancel profits earned, and since that interest was 99 per cent due in inter-company loans that looked like deliberate tax structuring to me.”
Last year profits at Npower increased by 25 per cent to £390million soon after it imposed large price rises on customers.
The company, owned by German utility firm RWE, saw profits from its UK customers and power stations increase by £77million from £313million0 -
My God, thank you all for reinforcing my doubts about NPower. I was contemplating switching to their Mar 17 fix. Now, no way, Jose!:j0
