Advice please on course funding

I want to start a foundation course and wondered if anyone had any advice regarding helping me to fund the course fees.
I have already approached, the job centre, learn direct and the O.U and no-one seems to be able to help me or even put me onto any organisations that would help one parent families (disabled too)
The course can only be held with the National Extension Collecge and it's distant learning..
Can anyone recommend any organistations that can help me fund the course?
Thanks in advance

Hasn't the NEC given you any details of any funding availiable?
I study through the OU and they give me financial support to help with the cost of my degree - as far as I know, each 'establishment' would only have information on who could help with people learning with their own establishment, IYSWIM:cool: Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -
Hiya,
I would try approaching the college to ask if they provide any version of the career development loan... my boyf is doing a home learning course and we are paying the fees in installments (rather than the lump sum they originally asked for!)
Failing that, are there no other establishments that offer your course (OU etc.) where funding is available?
Hope you work it out soon,

Hi thanks both for your replies, The NEC doesn't help with funding in any shape or form i'm afraid..they were the first one's I asked....and The NEC is the only place where I can take this course!...It's all very frustrating

Could you give us some information about the course you want to do and the level it is. There are so many courses with the word "foundation" in and they're all quite different levels.0

the only other place I can suggest is the LEA - woudl you be eligable for student loans etc? If so then I think it's your local education authoriy who deal with all of that and would be able to tell you if you were exempt from any fees etc but I'm afraid if the college don't offer any funding I'm not sure anyone else will.
oh another thought it may be worth approaching your local Trading Standards and seeing if you were employed by them whether they would pay for the training and give you some time off to do it...0 -

I think that the only funding that you're likely to get for this would be by taking out a Career Development Loan. You need to look at this option very carefully as it's quite different from a Student Loan.0
