carcraft is their 5 year guarantee any good ?

Tilt wasn't being sarcastic in the least, simply telling it how it is.
Finance houses that happen to throw a car of some sort in with the package are best avoided, their behaviour over this frankly fantastic warranty price tells you all you need to know.
Walk away if you can from the whole deal, i hope you haven't left a large deposit.0 -

I know, i'm sorry but I feel bad enough as it is.
Anyway thank you Tilt and I have now started the cancellation process of at least cancelling the 5 year warranty.
Though I promise you it was intimidating these guys came and picked me up from my house in their car approx 35 mins drive.
There is one thing though i think its learned my son an invaluable lesson at the ripe old age of 18 and its definately taught me.
I am gullible and believe everybody, it's not a good thing at all.0 -
If you feel intimidated by a car salesman, your'e in the wrong dealership. Remember, you are the customer and they want your business so making you feel intimidated is the last thing they should be doing.
As for your son, at 18 he should be more concerned about paying £2k for his insurance premium rather than that amount on a warranty!PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

He traded his old car in, and we were told at the time that this contract was binding from that moment, however I decided to put some Carcraft reviews in and was horrified at what people were saying especially about this "guarantee" so we tried to contact someone and lucliky spoke to a man on Saturday who said we had 30 days to cancel and it wasn't compulsary, (this man was from Carcraft) but not at the one where he bought the car from.
His 30 days are up on the 29th, we have now telephoned, emailed and wrote via special delivery cancelling the guarantee.
It does seem that we are frivolous but I assure we are not, I work and my son works one full time job and a part time job to cover his debt, he needs transport for both.
Thank you for all your advise, albeit I should have come on here first.0 -

Which they'll no doubt remind you of, so be firm and remember like politicians they only tell you what you want to hear and the second they have your dosh (or vote) you are instantly forgotten.
The scenario of collecting you sounds like something from a Godfather film, where they make'a you an offer you can't refuse.
As you say a good lesson for your son, whom i would advise to not start off his motoring life by taking finance on a car, but that a discussion for another day.
edit
By the way, don't feel do bad about nearly getting conned, we've all done it at some point is called learning the hard way.
The internet is an excellent tool in many ways, research for hours days if necessary all the relevent faults and problems on a car you are interested in before going to view, and do the same with large finance selling houses like this one.0 -
So what make/model is the car, what age is it, and many miles has it done. Has your son got quotes for insurance on this car?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
I feel so sorry for him.
You can see where this is heading in 3/4 years time when the car is kaput and is stuck paying for it.Be happy...;)0 -

Yes he does pay his insurance, this is his second car, he paid £2600.00 his first year via ikube, then he went with ingenie which was £1820 as he has 1 ync, at the end of this contract he will be paying approx £1400 for this car now. Also it is £20.00 per year tax.
A part of me hated his first car which was more like a "racer car" and the day before he got this new one a mechanic had said it was dangerous, (I don't know why).
The only consolation is that this car which is an AYGO is small, better on petrol, cheaper insurance and tax.
He will be 19 in March and in May he will have 2 YNC, keeping everything crossed.
My gosh I feel loads better talking to you guys, nothing beats a good rant and a moan, thanks for helping.0 -

Its an AYGO, 4 years old and its done 3100 miles. Also when we get this guarantee taken off he is still going to make the same payments as often as he can to get it paid quicker.0 -
The AYGO can be had at £159 a month brand new with 5 year warranty over 36 months with a sensible final payment, which can be saved in the 3 years.
Surely this must be a better deal than carcrafts ?.
Just point out to him as well what Gap insurance is.
It covers you for when the car is written off and they will only pay book price, yet the finance left owning is twice that.
So he is left paying for no car !Be happy...;)0
