carcraft is their 5 year guarantee any good ?
Hi
My son bought a car from Carcraft and they forced him to have a 5 year guarantee package, they said because of his age that he "didn't have a choice".
I have been reading through the package and for £2000 plus they don't seem to cover much.
Have any of you guys had any experience with this.
Thanks in advance for any help given.
By the way he has until tomorrow to cancel, I don't really believe that this is compulsary.

Sounds like he "just wants the car" at any cost, which will be substantial from these people.
If the £2000 is added on the finance deal it will cost £4340 to pay back .
It sounds like he needs some urgent Adult supervision and guidance .Be happy...;)0 -
Exactly what does this 'guarantee package' provide?
How much did he pay for this car? Is he buying it using finance provided by Carcraft?

Yes you are right there, I was actually with him, they were very intimidating and I suppose to a man that sounds like rubbish, but they said because of his age this was compulsary and I believed them, it sounded good at the time,0 -

I was supposed to be 4990.00, but reading this paperwork it was more like 5330.00, he blinded me with his talk.
He said the only thing my son would have to worry about for 5 years was, brake shoes, wind screen wipers, tyres, and two other small things, the rest like service, mot, rac are all free parts and labour so I thought that was brilliant.
He is paying 1999.00 for this, BUT I have since been told that if their garage say that any repair is normal wear and tear then you have to pay for it, so it doesnt sound like such a good deal.0 -
"Forced him to have a 5 year guarantee package?" Could he not find his way to the exit? Unless the warranty is included in the advertised purchase price, it must an option. So walk away would be my advice!
A warranty is merely an extension of your statutory rights under the SOGA thus meaning it is not compulsory and in most cases, a waste of paper as they normally exclude everything that is likely to go wrong.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. I asked the guy if he had a choice on this after sales guarantee and he said No because of his age, they were MERELY assisting him, that if anything goes wrong with the car, they knew that he wouldn't be able to afford repairs and repayments. Sorry but I am MERELY a woman and I believed every word.
I came on here to ask for advice, not for sarcasm, YES he could find the door, and so could I. WE just didn't use it and YES I wish that we had.0 -
As the warranty applies to the car, what the hell as the buyer's age got to do with it?? £2K for a warranty on a car worth less than £5k is madness! As your son still seems to have a day left to cancel, I would suggest he does that before the day it out - has he actually paod any money to Carcarft yet?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Sorry you thought it was sarcasm. But the bottom line is that he (your son) does not have to buy the car under these terms. If the warranty is 'compulsory' it should be included in the purchase price. Obviously, it must be a condition of the finance that the car has a warranty but I fail to see what his age has got to do with it. Its not as if he is taking out insurance for the car.
You say you have tomorrow to cancel. My advice is to do just that and take your business elsewhere. £2000 for a used car warranty is ridiculous.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
If we add the "warranty" on and the purchase price and put it over 5 years credit.
He could have bought a brand new small car (Brand New Vauxhall Corsa S deal) for less on a main dealer finance plan and saved over two thousand pounds.
That would come with 3 years free servicing, no MOT and 12 months tax and one years fully comprehensive insurance.Be happy...;)0 -
Cancel the whole deal and walk away from these shysters. You have been stitched up like a kipper.0
