How do you play your guitar and effects pedal when going through an amp?
The effects pedals I used (some time ago) were plugged in inline i.e
guitar > pedal > amp
Won't you just do the same but have the computer instead of the amp?0 -
Bear in mind that you won't get the same sound plugging your guitar and pedals straight into your sound card as you would with your amp. Unless you're mic-ing up your amp then you'd be better using a plugin like Amplitube to get a decent sound if you're going to be DI-ing it.
Also, have you checked if your sound card has a line in?0 -
lol thanks..re that magix music thing, ive downloaded it but i cant do anything with it? i cant even put a song into it to play about with, i dont know how to get started and the help menus not that great..i mean with audacity you just open a file and it plays it then you can mess about with it. also theres no activation key, i dunno what to do! i wish there was someone i could ask about all this sort of stuff cos i just havent a clue, even looked into courses but cant find any free music production ones anywhere...
re line in..theres 3 holes there, one for mic, one for headphones and one in the middle with a pic of a circle with an arrow through. please tell me thats a line-in! :-(Fr. From the download page: if you have any problems downloading the program or obtaining a serial code, please email contact@vnudownloads.com:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

What's the worst that could happen? They don't give you a code? Don't really have anything to lose. I find a lot of software companies tend to be quite accommodating, even Microsoft."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

That third input will be a line in.0

When you mentioned Pro Tools, I assume you are a Mac user.
Unforunately only know of Mr Gates software
It all depends how complicated and time consuming you want it to get.
- Pro Edit Pro 2 (now called Adobe Audition) is FREE and still can be downloaded and is very good for slicing and laying different tracks of WAV (a bass player here uses it) to create a song.
- Making Waves Studio is basic, but also Shareware and should allow you to do what you want
- High End, now this is where you can look at various versions of Cakewalk, Reason, Cubase, Fruit Loops Studio .. until your head is spinning! Think CakeWalk Studio Pro (or Personal/LE) would be a good start.
Also, Sony Sound Forge is excellent for manipulating/cleaning up WAV's.
Also, there are thousands of VST's that can be used with most common music creation software. Theres some really good forums out there.
Good luck on your journey - you'll have to post the audio when your done.0
