2 things...cant seem to find an adaptor to convert the large size (guitar lead) to headphone size for use with computer, what high street shop can i get this from cheap? dont seem to be any in argos and currys have shut down..also, im after free software to add synths/drums effects to tracks...?

    maplin is the place to go to get your adapter. As for effects not to sure...

    right..ta...now i realllly need help with the software. i think pro tools used to do something like what i want for free but its discontinued. basically i want a free prog that can layer tracks, cut them etc and add effects like drums, bass, synths..im hoping theres something out there?

    This programme is free for the basics and comes with guitar bits, drums, synths, etc already pre-loaded. You can then add your own files (apparently) by downloading them and putting them into the correct directory.

    I thought Pro Tools Free was still available. Depending on how good your sound card is then you might be better getting a new audio interface or card which has 1/4" inputs. You'll get better quality recordings and many interfaces come with basic DAW software such as Cubase LE.

    Me too, always worth giving it a try, I've found that quite often online download offers etc will last a while after their expiry date.

    i couldnt even see a download link just the pc page telling me about it, ill look again. also, if i get this adaptor for the guitar, and plug it into line in right..well what about my guitar pedal? thats got a seperate jack, i dont just want a normal sounding guitar, how do i go about playing my guitar with effects pedal into the comp?
