Help! Branded or unbranded tyres?

imo legit partworns that have been inspected and stamped are a better buy than unbranded new ones0

Why is this even being discussed? All tyres now come with a rating for fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise. Now we can actually go to a tyre shop and compare cheap tyres and expensive tyres. It isn't uncommon for the cheap tyres with soft rubber and low efficiency to have better grip than the expensive, high efficiency tyres with the hard rubber.
Given the OP's low mileage, grip is probably more important than efficiency or longevity, so all she has to do is find the ones with the best or most acceptable grip rating, whether they are the cheapest, mid range, or most expensive.

There are cheaper tyres and there are ditchfinders.
The real cheap chinese ones actually just fall apart ... I honestly wonder how they are allowed to be sold as tyres... thats not the same as budget tyres that may not be as good as big name brands but don't just have bits fall off the sidewall if you gently scrape a kerb.0 -

Very interesting thread. I bought a '99 Saab on Friday and have just been to check the tyres on it. I looked when I first test drove the car last week and all four corners had loads of grip, but they are of a brand I've never heard of "Event" and I can see the dreaded "PRC". I think I have Chinese ditch finders.0

Budget tyres all the way. They're fine and your hardly doing big miles. I have budgets all round on my astra estate and they are fine, pulled me up some big derbyshire hills in the snow with no trouble. Primewells, nexens, maxxis all good tyres.0

You could be right. Most reports seem to say fine in the dry but no grip in the wet.

No way.
I'd tried that viewpoint and I'd never use part worns ever again.
Waste of time and money.0 -
