Well my code also said that it had already been claimed. If you forward the original email with your code to redspottedhanky@atos.net (the contact email on the site), surely they can see that you havent claimed your code as it would've appeared in your account history! Worth a go as if they wanted to they could then track down the person who has actually claimed your code!!
Thank you! Exactly, the screen shot says my first name on it, surely they can find out who actually claimed that code and know that the names don't match.0 -
my code didn't work at first but once they emailed it to me it seemed to accept the code so may be worth trying again later0

Not sure who is really to blame though, Sun or Red Spotted Hanky? Just so annoying that I got a code but it's saying it's been used when I haven't used it!
I've taken part in 2 previous promotions for red spotted hanky and both times the customer had to put a code into a box on the website, then 3 days later they were emailed their code. It was one per account/email address. Last time the 3 of us in this house all applied but only 1 of us got given a code, which is fair enough - perhaps they check the addresses and only give one code per household.
Whoever is to 'blame' this fiasco will stop potential new customers from ever using red spotted hanky.
My aunt is a Sun reader and she's given up trying with this promotion. She doesn't hang around money forums every day so as far as she is concerned the promotion was a farce, and her code didn't work. She'll never log into her redspottedhanky account again, she'll just buy train tickets from the trainline as per usual.52% tight0 -

I've taken part in the last couple and I know it always seemed a bit confusing as to whether the code was accepted (in that it would just load the page and not say anything) but this time it says the code has been used.. pesky person stealing all the codes!0 -

I honestly wouldn't0 -
This from The Sun,s Website
DUE to due high demand, our £9.50 off train tickets offer with redspottedhanky.com is no longer available. Unfortunately, all 30,000 unique codes, plus an additional 9000 have now all been issued. Therefore we will not be printing any further codewords in The Sun, as customers will not be able to participate. We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment.0 -

Sounds like they don't want to admit it all went a bit tits up. It's a good thing they released 9,000 extra tickets though - that means people who bought the paper today could use the promotion.
Not sure how they can call them unique codes though - people were being issued with the same codes. That was nothing to do with people stealing codes - that was a fault on The Sun's part.
Did they cancel the codes from yesterday? EDIT: Obviously not - some guy on Facebook has posted a picture of him with literally a fan of 1st class tickets.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
Unless you were looking on here or were in the know you never had a chance of getting the credit. This promotion was a joke and I agree something needs to be done as it was false advertising. This seems remarkably similar to booking tickets through Ticketmaster where all good shows get bought by touts and then resold advantageously to them and Ticketmaster through Ticketmasters sister site. How convenient. To all those selling through ebay good luck. I would NEVER buy off a tout. If everyone took this view touts would have to go get a real job and we would all be better off.0

Never bought the Sun before but got today's to benefit from the offer. Looks like I'm out of luck.
.....still, I suppose Lucy, 22 from Warwick on page 3 is some consolation.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
yes buyitall might be a good idea!!
Just one query now that redspotted no longer post the tickets if you use a credit only and no credit card how do you pick up the tickets as the auto machine at the station asks for a credit card??0
