Sometimes the Forum Team will give users a quiet word of warning for breaking the rules if they are getting close to a yellow card.
If your posting privileges are suspended or terminated, please don't attempt to re-register on the Forum or make any posts in any guise whatsoever.
When banned former users do re-register or otherwise disrupt the forum, this can cause severe distress to other users. Dealing with unwanted ex-forum users' posts distracts the team from the core purpose of the site and takes up time. Therefore in such circumstances we may:
  • Report offenders to their ISP.
  • Charge offenders for the administrative costs of identifying and removing their posts at the rate of £40 per hour, plus any external costs that we incur.
  • Take legal action to recover these costs.
  • Report offenders to the authorities if their actions appear to amount to a breach of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 or any other relevant criminal legislation.

Lol, After all their views on rip off banks charging for admin. Here they go and do the same

Its a bit like the parking penalty charges just throw it in the bucket, lol

Also includes established users posting threads in the wrong place and them having to be moved by the forum team :p

How much do you think it costs per hour for a specialised web technician, plus costs of providing a workplace, heating, lighting computer equipment and so on?

No offence, but £40 per hour plus any additional costs sounds pretty standard to me. If I remember correctly, the banks were (in effect)charging hundreds per hour for tasks done by admin staff, and charging at every opportunity. So far, MSE are just threatening to charge.

Of course, you might just be joking... ;)

Is this really appropriate for the Marriages & Relationships board?

And if you behave yourself and don't get PPR'd, you won't have to worry about paying any administrative costs, will you?

Can't see the point to the thread, looking for a discussion or to stir up trouble?

Does it affect you? It's a bit like saying how expensive a call out for a gas man is, do you need one? No:D

Whichever it is, the thread is more appropriate to the Arms or Discussion Time.

Well, I for one, did not know this!! But there again, although I may have had a post removed, I've never received a missive such as this from Admin - and if we all use the fora properly, Admin wouldn't need to send them.

I surmise that Cheepskate has been a very very naughty person! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Or has nothing better to do than trawl through MSE forum rules.

In fairness to MSE, it actually states:
Therefore in such circumstances we may:

    Not that they will.

I doubt that they have ever gone so far as to charge someone an admin fee.

Move along now, nothing to see here.

Lol, I think some of my posts may come close to being deleted , but not yet
Found it while looking for something else.

Just found it a really strange one, seeing as this site is all about fighting for consumer rights.

As a established poster, sometimes we do post to the wrong board, but there is always some kind soul who will point it out to us before the enter button has even been hit

£40 squid for removing a post is a tad excessive. Wonder if they charge a flat per hour rate or break it down into minuite sections.........

I think you've totally misunderstood what the MSE rules are saying.

They are talking about someone who has had their posting privileges removed (PPRd) - and THEN has reregistered again (which is against forum rules).

As it says (have you even read it?), members are usually issued with a warning first unless the offence is very great.

They're not talking about charging regular posters for removing the odd post.

Talk about making something out of nothing!
