  • Evening all!

My chicken's cooking too. No white wine to accompany though:(

Well done to all who went AF last night in the face of social situations and trying personal circumstances, all of which would happen whether or not we had a drink in our hands.

For those who didn't quite manage, tomorrow's another day, in fact this evening is another...evening.:o

During a periodical dose of reflection I was wondering why I thought these first 4/5 days haven't been as bad as I imagined they would be. It's because I can usually go that long between drinks and then the weekend pops back round and Fri/Sat/Sun are my usual drinky nights. They usually consist of a beer to start, half a bottle wine and maybe a couple of spirit mixers (home measures) to round off.

I'm a weekend binger. Sometimes the weekend is a little longer, sometimes I think I'm being good by not having the spirits. Either way 3 nights is nearly half a week. I want to get out of the habit before it escalates.

I think next weekend will be the test. But here's to this evening going to plan first!

    I know it's still early but I'm declaring 5/31

We've had my parents over for lunch as it's my Dad's 70th. OH and I were good and shared a carton of white grape juice with my 17 year old DD. We had my Dad's proper birthday celebration meal at a local pub restaurant on New Year's Day. We went AF then too as it was Day 1 of Dry January. My in-laws couldn't understand why we weren't drinking which I found odd. I wouldn't need to explain why I wasn't taking drugs so why the need to explain the abstinence from alcohol :o

Well done to everyone else too. It's really keeping me motivated reading the threads.

I'm declaring for today as AFD number 2/28. A couple of friends popped round earlier and shared a bottle of red with my DH, but I stuck to fizzy water.

I'm finding this thread very inspiring at the moment with everyone posting and supporting each other. Thank You
    Trying to keep in budget.

Well, I've not managed to have an alcohol free day today, either. Drinking is starting to become a bit of a habit again, automatically poured before I even so much as think.

Declaring early with 5/31 - I've not had a great day really, but have turned to chocolate rather than alcohol, so while I'm doing ok on this challenge it's been an abysmal day as far as the weight loss one is concerned :(
    Oh well.....baby steps x

Mine is just habit too and that's why I've been trying alternatives as suggested on here. It's really hard breaking habits but don't give up. Just draw a line under this weekend and start afresh tomorrow.
  • Pink grapefruit hi juice with my roast chicken tonight. Wasn't so bad.

Habit is a stinker. When NYNS talked about going to the offy to get his brandy before he knew what was going on put me in mind of when you get in the car, drive off and find you're on your way to work and you don't mean to be. Or is that just me.

I'm safe tonight so declaring 5/31 please.

    New week, new opportunities.
    Xx

I'm starting back tomorrow. For me it's the first real day back after Christmas break.
