I could well manage an AF day today, almost unheard of for me to have an AF Saturday. I'm driving and won't be back until late when I plan to have a cup of tea! Fingers crossed.
  • 9 please, Shaggy, thanks

Went out for a lovely meal with DH last night, and had some very pleasant wine - I didn't go completely over the top, but 'had a few' ;) because the DD's are both coming home from uni this weekend, so for the Christmas period I have to be a responsible parent :) and set a good example (I suppose). It will be lovely to have all 3 DDs here though :)I have warned DH that I refuse to go back to hausfrau mode doing all the work, cooking etc etc  AF Saturday night for me, because I have promised to give DD3 a lift to her babysitting and then collect her too

11/15 AFDs achieved. night night all
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Hi all, I will be joining you in the new year if you'll have me.

I have been reading lots of this thread and it seems a good way of supporting and encouraging each other and boy do I need support and encouragement lol.

I have drank half a bottle of spirits pretty much every night for 15 years (I guess I'm what they call a functioning alcoholic, drinking after work). The odd time I've had an AF night I have felt so good about myself the next day and reading your posts I can feel your joy and it makes me crave it for myself.

I also need to stop because it's costing me a fortune now due to the price of alcohol going up and up and up. I can't justify wasting so much because the monkey on my back wants his fill, leaving me feeling terrible about myself every morning.

Sorry for posting this 2 weeks before I intend to start but I'm building myself up mentally for a new start and I just wanted to make the commitment to myself on here now while I'm feeling so positive.

    Good luck NYNS:)

Last night was my works Xmas party and I had several lime and sodas & a jug of water:D. I had a good night and when whingeing started amongst some colleagues I decided to call it time and head home.

So that is 8/16 AFDs and I think there are still plenty more AFDs still in Dec for me to catch.

Welcome NYNS, you'll get loads of encouragement and support here. I know I viewed this forum for a while before I jumped aboard the wagon (which I sometimes fall off, but it is a patient wagon that always has a seat, and there are loads of friendly hands ready to haul me up).

    :)

    And the same from me!

It's a good idea to have a plan. Are you intending to cut down or try to give up completely? One possibility is to go target free and just clock up as many days as you can. Any thoughts?

As promised, I managed an AF Saturday. Not drinking while I was out was easy but required a bit of willpower when I got home.

    9 AFDs please Shaggy.

I should hit my target tomorrow and then after that any extra days will be a bonus!:D
  • 10 please, Shaggy, thanks AF last night, feeling fantastic today. Been to gym and for long walk, then will attack the ironing soon.

Have a good day, everybody x

Went on my works Christmas Meal on the 6th.

Total cost of the night was £36 (£25 for the meal which I had already paid for, £ 2 tip and £9 for 3 pints of diet coke).

Meal started at 5pm , and I was on the train home @ 7.30 stone cold sober.

The rest of my mates stayed out and had a really good night !.
