  • Welcome back SPS! You certainly had a holiday to remember, mine was boring in comparison :rotfl:

Made me laugh to see so many of us desperate to have some AF time (me included!), a sane person may well wonder why we drink???

But this forum has helped me so much, there's so much support, experience and knowledge here. But also humour, I need that :)

I've been thinking much the same today GK. I'm starting to think I should/could be 'moving to the next level' as they say in the football world. Not giving up but perhaps more AF days or even less on drinking days so that I don't end up falling asleep.:o I think I'll go and polish that stop button, I may be needing it.

Oh, me too! I am really going to try and cut back a lot more in the new year - I feel so much better when I don't drink but I seem to forget that once I have had one (or two) ;)

13/15 AFDs if I include today, and I'm full of a sludgy cold so won't be drinking tonight.

Have just got home from a long weekend, with 6 hours work on Friday and Sunday nights respectively. Add 6 hours driving time, that gives me lots of TOIL to use up.

My mother played a blinder on Saturday evening. We were half way through watching Strictly (which I adore), and she just turns the telly over to The Chase. Ok, it's her telly, but there was no warning. Then she promptly fell asleep. Unbelievable. Ah well, age has its privileges.

We've got someone coming to look at the house tomorrow. I wish it had been at the weekend, when the house was immaculately tidy, and empty. The EA has the keys. Ah well, it's tidier than its ever been in the 11 years we've lived here.

It won't be long before we'll can move back north, so it will be a half hour drive to visit mum, instead of 3 hours there if the M1/M6 traffic is moving steadily. I've got to chase up HR to see if a decision has been made on whether I can work remotely when I move.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

You sound very realistic and I applaud you for taking on the challenge.:T
Just wondering whether you need to chat with your GP. I'm no expert but going 'cold turkey' might be difficult healthwise.

The very few time I have gone AF I have had no real side effects other than a few bad nights sleep.

I had an m.o.t. at the doctors 3 weeks ago and everything was fine, that's part of the reason I want to make the effort to change my habits. I feel I have been given a second chance and I don't want to waste it.
