    Interesting article.

I am majorly stressed at the moment. My life is generally pretty high stress anyway being a single mum of a disabled child.

Add to that falling in love. Stress High

Add to that a cancer scare for my mum. Accompanying her to hospital tomorrow for tests/verdicts etc. My own son's stress through the roof. My stress through the roof.

I would like to switch it all off. I know a bottle or two would do that. I also know that a bottle or two COULD send me back where I was.

I'm not prepared to take the risk, but I need to find a way of coping with it all. So, I'm telling all you anonymous people on the internet! It kinda helps!:o

Very interesting article 365days - it is so true that we all have various 'reasons' for drinking but all it generally does is mask the 'reasons' and not deal with the basic problems i.e. stress, depression or as the article says it just being a habit. The stress may seem to disappear after a few glasses (or bottles) but unfortunately it is always still there when you wake up next morning and you are less able to deal with it with a hangover .

Congratulations skintdad - very well deserved :T

Well done Alex & stupotstu - you did very well managing to abstain.

I managed another one last night so that is 9/12 AFD's for me please Shaggy.

Have a good day everyone :)

Stupot: Thank you! Oddly enough I often feel quite pleased with myself come the morning when I've not had a drink (or several) the night before. Glad I'm not the only one. :o

OK now it's surely not too early to declare 11/18.

Looking back at your posts there is a pattern. When you don't drink you are pleased with yourself and when you drink you are disappointed. Just thought I'd point that out!

    SKINTDAD - Fabulous news!

And I'd add that when you've planned an AF night (like a family celebration) or do something constructive (like going out with MrsK) you don't beat yourself up like you do if you have a 'sod it' night.

My conclusion is that you're happiest when you're in control.:D

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

OMG not an AFD yesterday. A combination of being a bit elated about some unexpected money coming in and a bit sad about some other news. Ended up having a couple of drinks which led to a couple more and woke up feeling horrendous this morning.... Ugh.
Amazingly though, I had a hangover for the first time in years. When I was drinking regularly every day I could have drunk the same amount as last night and woken up without a hangover - so I guess hungover was my usual state.. Scarey.
Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...
