Everyone Welcome!!!What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Some really good posts on here yesterday - lots of 'food for thought'.
14/14 AFD's for me so I have reached target :j but am intending on trying to add a couple more for the month.
Shaggy - please can I set my November target at 12 - I know it is less than this month but it is my birthday towards the end of the month and I know that means I will probably miss out on a couple of days that I am normally AF.
Have a great day everyone0 -

As always a cracking post from Graeme. I'd like to echo what he said by adding my own point of view.graemecarter wrote: »Welcome.
I believe I'm alcoholic,me too but some people would probably say I am not one because I didn't drink in the morning, me neither didn't drink spirits etc.Drank vodka towards the end telling myself it was less calorific than wine I previously thought that way also. I would never have said I was an alcoholic, I worked in pubs for years and there was NO WAY i was like those 'alkies'
I didn't drink everyday I did pretty much and could sometimes stop drinking after a couple of drinks. Very occasionally but always drank with the intention of getting drunk What is the point iof having just one glass???
However, I regularly drank more than I intended, and sometimes just couldn't stop. Absolutely x100
If I wanted to control my drinking, it wasn't enjoyable, and if I wanted to enjoy my drinking, it was never in control. x 1000
All that's important is that I realise that my relationship with alcohol is unhealthy, and admit that to myself so I do something about my drinking. I agree and would like to add that by recognising this I recognised my relationship with MYSELF was unhealthy.
My alcoholism HAD to be self-diagnosed. It was no use anyone telling me that I had to stop/cut down my drinking. It had to be me that made that decision. People told me I had an 'issue' but denial is the alcoholics greatest defence
The thought of giving up drinking was awful yep- I thought life would be unbearably dull. yep That's my alcoholism telling me lies. Life is far better and fuller since I put down the drink.yep and fair more authentic to who I am It's not always easy, but it's far easier than it was when drinking. Absolutely no more of that 'How much did I drink' guilt when you drank when you said you wouldn't. No more waking up and thinking '!!!!!'
For me, getting help for my alcoholism has been the best decision I ever made. Yep and not nearly as bad as I ever thought it would be and ever thankful that I stopped before it was too late.
All the best and keep posting. In my experience, I have good days and bad days, but it's important I don't drink one day at a time.
Views are my own. This is my experience and is not advice for anyone else. I'm just saying what my story is.LikewiseHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Hi all
I have decided to set my Target at 15 again for November, thanks Shaggy. I hope to do more than that but I want to be realistic rather than 'fail'. Adding up my days of not drinking or smoking this month, I have saved.... a LOT of money
I intend to have wine this evening and be AF tomorrow so I will reach target this month
I want to say thank you to the people who regularly post here, esp those who share very personal experiences re their alcohol/previous alcohol intake. You have helped me a lot and I am more certain than ever that I will be able to moderate my drinking in time, and if not able to do that, I am fully prepared to give it up completely.
Huge thank you to Shaggy for keeping the list up to date and giving us little cartoon incentives for making the next stage!
Lastly, Hello :hello: to all the lurkers who don't yet feel ready to join in... I am sure most of us lurked a bit before we took the plunge
