Hi kelink,
The best place to get help and support with this is the Grocery Challenge thread so I've added your post into it. Good luck with getting your shopping bill down.

So I can't do a diary?
That's really nice of you gems but looks like we aren't allowed individual threads so I've had to scrap that idea!:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0 -
Well as a mid month update goes, mine isn't too happy. My aim was £120-150 and I'm already at £133. I want to mostly blame OH for coming shopping with me, and indeed this is responsible for probably about £20 of this bill, but the truth is that I was feeling so pleased with myself for getting my big tesco shop down that I forgot I have to keep all the other 'little' shops down as well. I've also had a little bit of extra time on my hands which makes it easy to drop into tesco or M&S (lunchtime today, bang goes £3.83!). Anyway we should only need fresh stuff for the rest of the month and most of our entertaining is done so that's it, back on the wagon!!
Hope everyone else is doing better than me!0 -
I made bread at the weekend, for the first time in about 20 years. There's only half the loaf left, despite its strange shape:D
Completely different taste to the shop-bought stuff in plastic bags.
I also made a rich fruit cake to put away, some chocolate caramel squares (three left), a gingerbread loaf (sampled) and some teacakes. I need to make more cakes as OH takes loads in his lunchbox but he doesn't go back to work till Weds, so I've hidden the stuff I've already made.
Not quite halfway through the month, slightly over halfway through my budget. Haven't been to Tesco since Wednesday. Bought a few bits (under a tenner) at the C&C on Saturday, all storecupboard and baking stuff. It's actually not as cheap as Tesco but it's considerably harder to spend on stuff you don't need. A quick trip to Tesco for milk can end up costing £30 or £40.
I think I'm getting there ...0 -
Hi I know I am a bit late this month but can I join you guys? I keep track of all my spending anyway so I know what my food outgoings are. I'm aiming for £100 a month, but i'm a bit to close to comfort for that already this month!
I did go to Lidl today though and do a mega fruit and veg shop, two big bags full of fruit and veg for £11! I recommend it, mangoes only 26p
I think it was their half price week but still it's cheaper than most supermarkets and the quality is pretty good. (i would go to the greengrocers but there doesn't seem to be one nearby)

Quick update.
Previous spend from 1st May
£113.26
Tesco spend of £30.53
Total 143.79
Its not looking good for £206 is it?
Well, I'll continue as I am doing and whatever the bill comes to at the end of May I shall try for £10.00 less during June.
This is for two adults, and includeds cleaning and smellies, the reason I include those is because its possible to cut down on those costs as well.0 -

It,s the waste when i forget to put things in the freezer, and then forget to defrost them in time to eat. Do you incluude moc,s in your budget? I,m getting good at these and have managed £43 give or take penny since February, I,m keeping a tally:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

Hmmmm..... I think I'm going to fail this month. I went to MR T's to get some bits I needed and came back £7.41 lighter. It's all stuff I needed but it leaves me £9.95 the rest of the month!!
I do have enough dried millk and frozen bread but I think it's going to be pretty much impossible. Hopefully I can have a lighter month next month as I did do a HUGE (£75) online shop at Mr Ts the beginning of the month and I've hardly dented the store cupboard yet so won't need to top up on that next month.....
I pretty much will need though natural yoghurt for breakfasts, some fruit and possibly some meat in the remaining 2 weeks :eek:April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500
