The Tesco shop arrived - £44.50.
This now makes the running total £66.50 (from £100 budget).
Have tons of food in and household cleaning stuff/toilet paper etc to last until the end of the month.

I am NOT going shopping until at least next Saturday now! (19th)

I love just going shopping once a week, life is so much simpler! :j

But then I dont have kids at home, I know it can be more complicated when you have more mouths to feed!

Just done my weekly Tesco shop - forgot that I needed loo rolls (big pack) and big box of persil - so spent more than I thought:mad: . Have added to top-up shopping in week (ie milk, bread etc) - total for this week is £92.45!!!

Should still be able to come in on target - leaves me £146.84 for the rest of the month!!

This shopping includes all houshold, toiletries, food, stuff for school lunches etc etc.

Have begun to ration my 2 Dss amount of puddings & sweet stuff - they've accepted it easily ( ) and now, if they want a snack, they have a banana or a yogurt :j - hence the treats cupboard is still fairly well stocked!!!

I've spent all my budget already :o. Walking and getting the bus everywhere makes me tired and hungry and it takes SO long!! So me and OH have been buying chocolate bars from the little shop near work :o. Going to try and stop that though - now that the budget is used up.

Have enough food to last us till payday (25th) so should be fine, apart from milk and eggs.

    Hi Newlywed

It is hard when you are hanging around for buses and taking so long to get to and from work, how well I remember that, and running into a shop to grab something to stop the tummy rumbles! :o

Sounds like you might not be too much over budget though if you are able to cut out the choc bars - can you make some little sweet treats to carry with you - small tray bakes or biscuit? or maybe fruit?

If I do that then OH eats them in the evening before we can take them to work!!! ;)

Might have to do that and hide them in the freezer again - only place he doesn't "find" food to eat ;)

Well, I feel very pleased with myself :-) Must say this thread has given me the inspiration to keep at it lol.

I stayed within my weekly budget of £80 last week. Had £1.36 left over, and have put that in my piggy jar :-) Sainsburys came to £40, and a few pence and Iceland was £15.50. I was pleased with Sainsburys because I wanted to stay near the £40 mark. I had shot over it by a couple of pounds (I go round with my calculator to keep an eye one my spending) but, I had a £1 off voucher for fruit and veg if I spent over £7.00 on it, which I do easily and a £1 off voucher for cereals if I spent £4.00 which again I usually do. So those two vouchers knocked the bill down to £40.00 :-) I still need to get a sack of potatoes. They are about £5.50 a sack. This should leave me with near enough a tenner for anything I need in the week.

I only draw out £70 and keep £10 in the account to pay for the milk. I have some delivered in the week. I know it works out a little dearer than buying it all from the supermarket, but it is local milk, and it is giving someone a job, and it is nice having milk delivered to your door step :-) In the long run I think it does save me money, because it's when I have to pop out for milk that I end up buying stuff I don't need lol.

brummiebabe well done with the snacks/treats, it's amazing how little they notice but you may even notice a change in the kids behaviour aswell. I did with my boys.

Been spending again :o farm shop lots of meat etc then other groceries inc wholemeal flour, yeast, a lot of coffee etc. Will find reciepts and add to total in a mo. Getting close to the top of my budget so need to calm the spending down a bit :o

Ok just added it, spend £214.98 so far which is crazy, but now have huge amount in, downside is I have about 3 weeks left in my month for this to last me :o Purse zipped shut, need a padlock for it I think.
One day I might be more organised...........

I spent another £19.80 in the local co-op today because I couldn't find anyone to get me the few bits in Aldi. It has probably cost more than double what it would have been. All fresh stuff too.

grannieannie, good luck for this months budget. It sounds like you have made a good start. I gave all my wine making stuff away to charity shop and now I have loads of rhubarb I wish I hadn't. I have saved some jars and am going to make some jam and possibly chutney too.
