Oh dear, we had a celebratory weekend for lots of different reasons. Grocery budget has taken a severe dent (£48.31 over last week apart from big shop of £38.62) but determined to get back on the wagon. Even worse though is that the grocery budget doesn't count eating out (3 times  ) and alcohol consumed (afraid to even go there!!) And I could hardly get my work clothes to fit this morning too
And since I was in such celebratory mood I went shopping as well. Wasn't too bad really and had the wit to avoid clothes shopping when half sloshed from lunch out but even so, it is time to TAKE MYSELF IN HAND!!
You heard it here first :rotfl:
Next week will be better...0 -
Hello :hello: Can I join in?
I'm a week late but I've totted up last weeks receipts and I'm ready to go.
I am pretty good on and off but last month I blew the household budget cos I had visitors and lots of Barbies. Why do I buy so much meat for BBQs
I'm setting the limit at £250 so that should be achieveable especially as the cupboard is pretty full and I've done a huge batch cook for the freezer. :A
I just think that posting here will give me a bit more motivation to watch what I'm doing.
off to do my sig.:D0 -
Okay, I've been resisting, but I need to start saving money again to pay for home improvements. There's only me now (and 2 cats), and I've been spending £50 - £60 per week on groceries. Mind you, this has been on organic, but it looks as though I'm going to have to go onto the bargain savers for a short while. Soooo - I've set myself a budget of £30 per week ... oh, but May's budget includes an overspend for week 1. I only just did the new budget.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0

well guys and gals it's shopping night tonight! I shall update you all either tonight or tomorrow. Luckily (this isn't cheating honest) we have to defrost the freezer when it is empty for it's annual clean so won't be buying any frozen stuff. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Hello, every body! I've just found out about you. I need to start planing my monthly shoping for two, because what I'm spending at the moment is too much. Thank you for the menu planners.
My budget for this month is £200. Wish me luck:o0 -
Well, as you can see from my signature, I have got well into spending!!! We are not even a third of the way through the month yet and mote than a third of my budget has gone.
spent the evening last night making a meal planner up for the next 6 weeks though, and even colour coded it to fit in different food groups (Mind you I did get stuck with hotdogs and onions (Kids favourite tea - so I just shaded it grey!) I have even wrote out all the different packed lunches OH can take for work - Hubbie ran off in alarm and said he prefers a surprise for lunch - so if you have any ideas of what will really surprise him let me know.
Hopefully the rest of the month will be fresh salads, fruit, veg, milk and yoghurts, but we will see!!Piggy Points (started 27/04/07) 2115

Had to go to Sainsburys for marzipan, icing and cake decorations, and managed to come out with just what was on my list, so that was an improvement on the last time I went in there! Am back on track now, might even have enough for a take away at the weekend !Friday April 9th 2010 the day I become Mrs Jones!

Oh lordy, I'm going to take the plunge. Here goes
I've been reading the OS board now for 2 weeks and slowly easing myself into things.
I've switched from weekly food shops at Tesco to Aldi, Iceland (for the deals) and the Butchers for meat when I can.
There's just me and my DD's, 7 and 2.
I'm picking up a breadmaker tonight - Freecycle so free :j I envisage lots of rock hard inedible delights for a while until I get used to this
Up until now I have been a basic cook. I make chilli's, spag bog, roast dinners (yorkies no way tho, attempted these 5 times and everytime a disaster), pasta dishes, cauliflower cheese etc. I have never made a stew or hotpot, or anything like that.
I'm going with £35 a week. Before it was £50  I never realised how much rubbish, processed junk we ate before. This is for food and drinks. My aim is for a healthier and cheaper way of living.
I'm expecting my first organic veggie box tonight, so we'll see how that goes.
Wish me luck. Thanks to all for your brilliant suggestions and tips, I promise to be a contributor from now0 -
I asked my OH to pick a few items from the shops on his way home from work the tonight. He came home with what I asked, but decided to buy 2 bags of apples for £2.00 and a bag of reduced salad, which has to be eaten today. It was reduced to 20p. Anyway. I tried to explain to him that I only really wanted the stuff I asked him to get, because now I was £2.00 less for the rest of the week. He couldn't see it like that, saying I won't have to buy apples next week now, so I will be £2.00 better off next week. I think I got him to realise that , I now have apples I don't need, and if I needed to get something for £2.00 before Friday I can't, because he just spent it???!!! lol. I think he thinks I'm getting fussed about nothing. Oh well. I'll educate him yet lol. Any of your husbands do this...buy things you don't really need????0
