Employer wants to sue me!

I miss SarEl, wish she'd come back
She did. Various MSE'rs complained about her (again) and the higher-ups in MSE Towers warned her off.

Touch wood <taps head> no-one has complained about me yet... or at least, as far as I know....
Though it is impossible to understand MSE sometimes...
I made a complaint about a poster on the CAB (employment) Board a while back, who was making some really confrontational and judgmental comments to posters with employment related problems - and giving totally incorrect information about the law. I was told in no uncertain terms that 'he was entitled to his opinion, and had not done anything wrong'. Nothing wrong, that is, except to give incorrect and misleading 'opinions' on a CAB board (the clue is in 'ADVICE').
Yet they give SarEl the red card?
Where is the *shrugs shoulders* smiley when you need it? :cool:I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

I am entering the required information before I post it! Cant wait.
Thank you for all your help and advice, and above all for pointing me in the direction of SarEl!
Don't forget to get proof of postage...!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I think Lazy Daisy posting style is more laid back than SarEl's, a sort of good cop bad cop partnership.
I can't recall on any other sections of MSE where a highly experienced contributer has been shooed away by ungreatfull posters who take offence when the answer given is not what they want to hear and argue with very experienced contributer. They then complain to MSE and MSE take their side which is odd as Lazy Daisy mentioned MSE will generally say to most complaints that everyone can contribute.
I don't recall SarEl every posting what I would class an offence post, she occassionally has a slight attitude but that is understandable when the OP has no knowledge and starts (Often rudely) questioning her answers.
On my favoured section (Insurance) we often get posters not liking the advice given, but their are many experienced posters so the advice is generally the same. We have lay people eg members of the public who contribute and give the general publics view which enhance the threads and keep them going. We frequently have "hand bags" but no one gets warned off.
Sad loss of a very valued poster whose posts were informative and entertaining. All given for free in the ethos of MSE to help out people who do not have the same knowledge.
Glad thecleaning guy has someone of SarEl's experience on his side and the wrongs his exemployer are foisting on him look like they will come back and bite the two bit ex employer.
Is it a bird, is it a plane... no it's a philanthropist employment barrister.0 -

Yes, she wasn't PPR'd but she was given the card.
I suspect she still looks in and will surface again when something grabs her attention....

I vaguely seem to remember you locked horns with SarEL too in one thread - possibly the one about loosing the ET iirc.
SarEl was certainly handy to have around but like many legal pros could have a bit of an arrogant attitude that the layman finds hard to handle and that is the problem. Legal people are used to it and see nothing wrong with being blunt and to the point whereas non legal people and lay people take it as hostility.
I had dealings with a solicitor and barrister a while back in the same office. Solicitor was a lovely lady, the barrister wouldn't speak at all. Nuff said.0 -

Hi SarEl
So just gone off in a huff like last time.0 -

I wish she would too, but she did have a, shall we say, unique posting style, that was "her way or no way".
I stopped adding to threads she contributed to as any opinion or fact she didnt agree with (even backed up with links) was very much poo-poo'd. And who can forget the immortal "member of the bar" thread?
If the current quasi arrangement where people come here, then get directed "over there" and gets good help, everyones happy, long let it continue!
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0
