Its generally considered a poor alternative to the Flex account as the rate of interest offered is poor in year one, even worse in year 2 and you dont get to use full branch services.
Plus you have to pay in £1000 a month to avoid a monthly fee for all these great 'extras'.0 -

Cheers I was hoping on getting a mortgage within the next 5 years.0 -
you can still open the Flex account which only requires £750 going into it per month and you get the free travel insurance ( provided you aren't taking medication for pre-existing medical conditions)0

Thats provided they give you the flex account with the blue visa debit card and not the cashcard +. If they give you the cashcard + then paying in £750 wont make any difference, you wont get the free travel insurance.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

Agree but thought I will paying in around 1500 - 1800 a month so went for the Flexi-direct which looks pretty ok.0 -
I've got FlexAccount with free travel insurance. I cannot complain.
FlexDirect however is just a mistake. It serves no purpose with its low interest rate.0 -

Oh well as I don't have to pay a monthly fee its a bonus and its direct which means I don't have to come into contact with robots face to face. I'm actually quite looking forward to this account.0 -
I saw the Flexdirect when it came out, but other than access to Flexclusives even if you're not paying in £750 pcm (which didn't apply to me and won't apply to you as you stated) and the in credit interest (which can be beaten) the loss of travel insurance stopped me converting my Flexaccount.0

I've had a Flex Account for about 12 years and the only time I've ever wondered into a branch (or spoke to anyone there) is to setup the 4.25% ISA, and that was just grab a form, fill it in, hand it to the receptionist and walk out.BugsyBrowne wrote: »its direct which means I don't have to come into contact with robots face to face0 -
Good Luck!
The only reason I've kept any Nationwide account is due to being a long term member. Everything about them is mediocre these days including this awful FlexDirect account.BugsyBrowne wrote: »Oh well as I don't have to pay a monthly fee its a bonus and its direct which means I don't have to come into contact with robots face to face.
