CN 22 for WITHIN Europe

Cannot seem to clarify this via Royal Mails website, so just checking if anyone else has encountered this

Posted a Small Packet to Spain today and the PO insisted that l complete a CN 22 as they say it came into force on the 14/01/13

As far as l'm aware the CN 22 is for outside the EU

As far as I'm aware you only need a CN22 within Europe if its going to the Channel Islands, Andorra, Canary Islands, Gibraltar, San Marino & Vatican City State.

Glad l'm not the only one who couldn't find it on RM site. I'm pretty sure if there was such a change it would have been mentioned on here. Soolin is normally on the ball with such changes and would have shared the info. I'm suspecting the PO was having a dumb moment.

I don't use a post office anymore, but I do print my airmail postage through paypal and they are certainly not expecting customs declaration on the 'normal' European countries. I've sent to Spain, Germany and the The Netherlands today with no requirement to complete customs.

I have a RM business account and receive regular notifications of any changes by email. I'm pretty sure this is something they would have announced and I would have seen. I send items overseas daily.

The RM website does take ages to update sometimes.

If you have twitter perhaps you could tweet and ask, they are really good about replying.
  • What did come into operation on the 14th was the new dangerous goods rule, where nothing related to dangerous goods can be sent internationally (eg: batteries, perfumes/aftershave aerosols etc), i'm wondering whether your PO is getting muddled up with that, as we have to ask every customer sending abroad what their package contains, and point out what cannot be sent abroad.

Exactly. As a warning to all ebayers, these rules will aplly to UK mail in the summer. Sellers need to pick up a leaflet and have a look.

There are lots of places in Europe that need a CN22 but there is no where in the EU (or the European Union) that needs a CN22. Lots of places have the lists of EU countries - wikepedia being one or there is a list on Royalmail site http://www.royalmail.com/delivery/delivery-options-international/airmail/airmail-zones.
The list of EU countries is not intuitive . For instance Norway, Switzerland or Latvia - only one does not needs a CN22. Take a guess.
