Paul McKenna - Hypnotic Gastric Band

Hi there, has anyone tried this method? I tried I can make you thin previously but found I couldn't listen to the cd. Although the book made sense it never actually clicked.

I'm hearing however this new method is supposed to work with 99% of people so I'm hoping it stops me being a grubber and finally shift my last 2 stone for good.

I'd love to hear anyone's feedback who's currently doing the hypnotic Gastric Band method, I've just had no dispatch from amazon and I can't wait.

I've not had personal experience but my work colleague did, although she went to a private hypnotherapist and paid £200!

It doesn't seemed to have worked for her, as the following week she was back eating cheese and bacon sandwiches, and all sorts of carp.

Not sure if you're meant to go a number of times if you go private, think there's probably where she fell down as I think she only went once or twice.

I personally tried Paul McKenna's quit smoking CD and it worked for me so I'd be encouraged to try other products of his.
  • I've not specifically seen his 'gastric band' product, but his slimming system that I am aware of is almost entirely copied (virtually word for word) from Susie Orbach's 'Fat is a Feminist Issue'. The only difference is that Orbach encourages the reader to also deal with the underlying issues as to why they overeat.
  • I tried this book with great success -

I heard Paul talking about his book on Radio 2 last week. It seems that while they were recording the CD over and over some of the production staff went off their food a bit!
It might be worth a try if you can pick up the book fairly cheaply...thinks Amazon

  • Hi
I got this last week from the sainsburys website, it was half price.
I wanted something quickly because I get all worked up about wanting to lose weight and then give up.

Anyway, despite saying there would be a delay in dispatch, I got it in a day or so.I read the book and listened to the CD.
I wasn't sure it worked so I listen to it every two days.

I am eating much much less than normal, I just dont feel hungry, even with a chocolate bar sat on my desk.
I do eat lunch and/or supper but my portion sizes have decreased.
I'm not eating 'healthy' because its been a busy week, however, once things have calmed down I will.
I have lost 3lb in 5 days, so I'm happy.
  • I have it, I have read the book in about 30mins as not much reading in it, and then I play the CD every night. I am still fat lol and keep forgetting his advice

He claims this ONLY works if you can do this very religiously, put tv off, sit at a table to eat, put knife and fork down between mouthfuls, only eat when hungry but not starving, stop eating when slightly full not bloated, chew the mouthfuls 20 times and do not speak to anyone when eating because you need to concentrate fully on the brain receiving the signal that your stomach is full, overweight people have long since tuned out to the signal/chemical that is released.

I picked up the book for £7 at asda !

When I went in to buy my full fat cheese, a pizza, a cake, some butter, LOLOL....
  • PS people with epilepsy are not allowed to use the hypnosis CD, that is quite important and only play cd when indoors never driving etc , I knwo it does sound far fetched but you never know , someone may think " I will play this cd on the way to the chipshop/work/etc ....."lol
  • I am seeing a local hypnotist at the moment and he has been talking to me about this. He says that the thing is that gastric band hypnosis does not really address the reasons for people eating so it may well wear off. I know he has written stuff about it so I will try and find the link and post it here so you can read for yourself. I read it and it was quite interesting.
  • Hi there,

Only just joined this forum, so keen to support others and compare notes. As a guy in my late 40's I have battled with weight all my life, with a 3 stone (ish) fluctuation rate.. Although very good at dieting, I am even better at putting weight (plus some) back on! A familiar story I guess.. So, looking for a new and exciting trigger to kick-start the 2013 diet, I happened upon Paul McKenna being interviewed on Breakfast TV. Having tried his weight-loss programme before (and liked it but not stuck to it), the 'hypnotic band' addition seemed perfect. I felt motivated and excited, ordered the book immediately, read it in an hour or so (not much to read really) listened to the CD watched the 'havening' DVD and away I went. I picked a day (3 days later) to have 'the op' and decided to take it seriously... On the day I didn't feel like cutting down on food and certainly wouldn't have chosen to start a conventional diet (this isn't one) that day. However, I stuck with my plan, went through the 'hypnotic trance' op and the effects were almost immediate. I actually couldn't finish my supper, which was bizarre and exciting. Since then, rather than waste food, I have eaten (consciously) much smaller portions and followed the system to the letter. Paul does stress that you need to follow the system exactly, which I decided to do. I am half a stone lighter already, much more energised, motivated, not hungry and NOT dieting. I'd say that was an ok start. Week 2 may prove harder, but the truth is I'm enjoying the process and trusting it too. :)
