  • My girlfriend (at the time) bought me an engagement ring - it's a simple gold band that's very nearly identical to my wedding ring (and planned that way), except that the engagement ring has a single, inset diamond.

    It actually cost £10 MORE than the ring I bought her :)

    Because they are both the same profile and grade of metal, they haven't worn one another down over the years, and most people don't notice I'm wearing two rings, as they sit closely together on my finger.

    I have never had anything less than an enthusiastic reaction from women who spot the two rings (men just don't notice).

    IMHO BTW :) my engagement and wedding rings aren't to allow me to 'show off' my achievement in finding a mate, they allow me to carry a small part - a symbol of my wife and our committment with me, where ever I am - so no engraving required.

    I have worn my engagement and wedding rings together for 15 1/2 years now.
