Hi MummyEm,
Just catching up on your diary. You're doing so much at the moment - putting us all to shame. Well done on all you've achieved recently, brilliant stuff!

Thanks SavingRaven!
ATB - DD is on the mend thanks. Unfortunately, I seem to be coming down with it but am trying to work through it.
I've really been focusing on trying not to throw food away this week. I generally hate food waste anyway but we've been getting a bit slack the last few weeks as life has been quite busy so am trying to turn things around. I've had to be pretty creative but between odds and ends from the fridge, cupboards and freezer, we've had some very tasty meals. I've calculated that we've used up around £10 of food that could easily have been thrown away so I'm going to transfer this from the grocery budget to the savings account.
On that note, I have an opened tin of crushed pineapple to use up - any ideas anyone? I haven't ever used this so would welcome any suggestions. The only thing I can think of is to eat some stirred in to plain yoghurt, but that would be quite a lot!0 -
All ticking over here.
-no one has been ill for a whole week!
-I've been working so wages will look ok for end of the month
-eb@ying away and people seem to be paying a lot for random stuff on there at the mo. Have a couple of packages to post today and a whole pile to go on Saturday morning. I've transferred this to savings account as have some holiday bits to book and not sure how much DHs wages will be for this month yet
-have bulk bought a whole years supply of washing up liquid as I like ecov3r and found the big refill boxes on offer! Think it should last a year. Much cheaper and Eco friendly too!
- been sticking to meal plan so keeping food cost reasonable and waste to minimum
That's it for now. Looking forward to updating when payday has been and I've done my monthly budget calculations.0 -
Hi MummyEm,
Good to hear no-one is poorly - hope you are feeling more rested now. Well done on all your proactive organising for the household, I love that you have bulk bought WUL! xMFW

...but have just OP'd £234 which would have been paid out for an activity that this kids did not want to renew this term.
Accounts are looking a little empty and still have quite a bit to pay out
-DH new tyres
-DH dentist visit
-Summer holiday travel bits
-2 children's parties to organise (plus presents but that won't be this month)
-DD needs a new bike
-kids both need new shoes
Not entirely sure all this will be achieved... but my thinking is that if we'd paid for this activity the money would be gone anyway so may as well put it to good use!0 -
Can any of the travel bits be begged/borrowed from friends or family? Could you get DD a second hand bike? Our local FB selling group is full of kids bikes being sold, and I've seen several at local boot fairs too xMFW

Thanks for the suggestions. I probably wasn't very clear re the travel- it's various car ferry and train tickets that need booking rather than anything that can be borrowed! All will of course be booked in the most MSE way available and using cashback etc where possible.
A great suggestion re DD bike. I'm watching a couple of eb@y at the mo. Haven't seen any come up her size on fb recently but will keep an eye out.
DH and I have both been paid so plan for today is
[STRIKE]-tidy up kitchen[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]-tidy up bedroom[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]-set up monthly budget and review finances. It's looking to be a tight month so need to be on top of this [/STRIKE]
-[STRIKE]post office run (have several eb@y sales to post)[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]-get DD to an appointment[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]-out with friends for pub meal this evening (with kids) but will this as cheap as poss[/STRIKE]0 -
Talking about second hand bikes....I got an amazing bike for myself off ebay a couple of years ago. It was like new and a fraction of the cost of buying new. Definitely worth a tryMortgage - £105,5000
