How much did your dress cost?

I tore a photo out of a magazine, of a Benny Ong design. I bought some lovely oyster beige silk from a local Asian store for £25, and took them both along to a lovely Afro-Caribbean lady (friend of a friend) who made me a beautiful copy for £15. Total cost £40.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

We are still happily married.0 -
I was married 17 years ago, and made my dress myself. The fabric (shot silk from John Lewis) was £100, antique lace trim a gift from my MIL (she used to work in the trade, so cost nothing to her). So with the pattern, lining, thread, all up less than £150.

I paid The grand sum of £70 for mine - but that was 29 years ago!! And that was £20 more than I had planned to spend, but I fell in love with the dress.
Mind you, it was a bargain as my sister in law also wore the dress on her wedding day tthree years later as she couldn't afford to buy one.0 -

Can't remember what make mine was, and anyway wedding dress 'designers' are only known in their field. Not Chanel couture are they! Mine was £400 and something, but I got DD's bridesmaids dress for free:)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

£40 from TK Maxx a year before he even proposed. It was an oyster coloured prom dress and I figured if I never got to wear it it was only £40 and as it was I wore it and loved it.0

I paid around £400 16 years ago. It was more than I was planning but nowhere near the £1000+ that a lot of dresses were. Laura Ashley was the only high street shop doing bridal then. I've seen some lovely dresses in BHS etc which I would have probably brought - I know some people want the label but it is not something that bothers me.
It was a little bit different - shell pink and had a heart on the back instead of a bow. It wasn't what I imagined but I loved it. Looking back, I think maybe I wish I'd gone for something a little more classic as I can't imagine either of my children considering it and to pass it down would have been nice (or selling it now I'm an MSEr). Still, you don't think of those sorts of things when you are young and in love.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
