Comments

I had them for about 2 weeks after birth of DS... only went through one or two packs!0

Depends upon what the 'medical reasons' are. (Im a MW). Without going into your medical histroy on this forum - get a cheapie pack. This is the max that you will need - you may not need any depending upon your condition.0

:hello: I didn't mean to cause offence or cause any arguements.
I realise the lady can't breast feed for medical reasons, but surely she will still have leaking breasts(please let me know if this is wrong),I know when I had just given birth I was told a way of easing the pain you get from excess milk if bottle feeding was to express it,that was all I meant, and if she does express it she might want to consider giving it to the baby.
just to set the record straight,I bottle fed both of mine, the first because she was to small and wouldn't suckle, the second through choice so in no way would I think any worse of anyone for bottle feeding.Mfit member no 13 original balance £44000

I bought tommee tippee ones with sticky pads on the back to stick onto my sports bra, and also then bought some tesco's own cheapies. They tend to wander about if not stuck down !! so found 2 breast pads for each boob helped !
Get a realy supportive sports bra, to keep everything nice and firm.
I never breast fed my daughter, but had to wear pads for almost 3 weeks, night and day. The pain goes by about day 3 or 4 !!
lots of luck with the birth of your bubs.

Not necessarily - depends upon the condition.0 -
Expressing milk would encourage more production surely...
Nan told me to drink Epsom Salts with water to dry up my milk. Apparently that was the done thing years ago, although i have no idea if it worked as intended, i used pads for less than a week, so i would buy just one pack and go from there."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." Epsom Salts works wonders! I had to stop breastfeeding because of mastitis. My midwife was of the old school, and she gave me two teaspoons of Epsom salts in a glass of squash. She said do it once more tomorrow, and that'll do, she was right! All dried up and soft breasts again, instead of ones as hard as rocks!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

everyone seems to be different ... i stayed in hospital for a few days after having roo and a couple of days after he was born i had a huge gush of milk. i only needed breast pads for an hour really, and it never happened again. other women had more milk though and used them for a week or more. i made friends with a woman in there and we kept in touch and she was still leaking milk 2 weeks afterwards, and she'd never expressed and hadn't even done the one-off breastfeed that the midwives here encourage you to try at birth.
i'd say just buy one small pack - you might be home before the milk 'comes in' anyhow - then send somebody out to buy more if you need more. if for some reason you have to stay in hospital for a few days (section, etc.) then the hospital will have samples you can use or you could get a relative to bring you in an extra pack.'bad mothers club' member 13

I leaked from being 6 months pregnant, waking up *stuck* to you partner/the bed, not nice. But yes, if you buy them just get a small cheap pack, or if you have local pharmacy etc you can buy them just if you need them. If you can not produce milk hence can't breast feed for medical reasons then no need to of course. One day I might be more organised...........

No evidence to support that this actually works.... breasts would have gone softer in a couple of days anyway.0
