how long to open an Abbey ISA?

i applied online a week or more ago but haven't received anything yet.

how long does it normally take?

No it's not good - I'm not impressed.

At least I'm still earning tax-free interest in the Halifax whilst they take their time.

I'm also in the process of transferring an ISA from Smile to Abbey.

Applied online for the Abbey Direct ISA on 9th March.
They sent application with letter dated 13th March (but received 20th March..)
I posted my signed application, copy ID and transfer authority on 21st March.

Got a comp slip acknowledgement (undated but received on 18th April) from Abbey saying the transfer request has been sent to Smile and can take 30 days to process...

25th April Smile ISA still open but checking today it has been closed (presume on 30th April).

So it looks like it has taken 7 weeks to get the transfer done.
Wonder how long my similar A&L to Kent Reliance transfer request takes...
