Well done!! persistence always pays off in the end.I am sure these mighty companies think we will eventually give up and go away quietly. In all the years i have been hacked off by a decision i don't believe is right, and i have therefore been very persistent,it has worked!! Hard going sometimes but worth it,on principle if nothing else.

Just one thing, did you get the phone call BEFORE you put the letter in the post or afterwards................?? !!!

Well, just to finish off, they have now given us the print!

Citylink were meant to collect on Wednesday but didn't turn up. JL were v.good and called to see if they had collected and when they hadn't rearranged it for today. When Citylink turned up they refused to take it (sensibly in my opinion) because they were so worried it would get damaged in the van (it was v.well wrapped up but he had no means of securing it). I called JL to let them know and to arrange a "special collection" with Citylink as per the driver's instructions.

They were so sorry about the whole matter that the head of CS telephoned me back to say that we should just keep it!

I can't help feeling guilty now...I offered to take it to my local JL but they said not to.

Thanks for all your help. I'm 99% sure they did monitor this board as there was something said in a conversation with the last guy I spoke to that suddenly appeared in this thread (about it being hand painted) that had never been mentioned before or on the website (as pointed out by dbg24). I got a lovely reply from the chairman as well (next day), definitely signed by him - so it does pay to go to the top.

    Thanks again...

High fives all round, well done for sticking it out. It does seem unusual for John Lewis to be so stubborn though, I worked for Waitrose a while back and it was one of the few places the customer really was always right.
