  • Thats fine I don't need you to believe me. I have tried to do some thing to help marlowtech, not to be iterigated by you.

I get the feeling someones into his conspiracy theories!!

I think its best if we keep our eye on the ball and deal with the thread in hand for marlowtech. If you want to start another thread on conspiracies and coinsidences here are a couple of good sites we coulsd meet up on.

What's the difference beween Consumer Direct and Trading Standards? I was going to suggest giving your local Trading Standards a call but seems they are both gov.uk websites.
  • I think they work along side each other don't they?

The lady I spoke to advised that when the order is placed it is sent to the suppliers and then this item is hand painted and the sent directly out to the customer.

For £60 for a 60cm x 60cm picture?! They're either selling them far too cheaply or they're employing some third world peasants to do it!!

I do feel that you should have read all the details before making the order but they do cover themselves on the site by saying non refundable!!!!!

Sure, and that may have put him off ordering in the first place but the question is whether JL's T&Cs can overrule his statutory rights (answer:no) and in which case whether those statutory rights under the DSR apply in this case.

In Consumer Direct's opinion (which is consistent with the advice they gave me earlier) JL have yet to prove that the right to return does not apply.

IIUC they're basically the consumer-facing, friendly advice line part of TS so you don't bother TS directly. I don't think they have any power other than to forward things to TS.

    Isn't it Mr Mayfield?

Did you mention this website when you were having your discussions with JL? It certainly looks a bit suss :rotfl:

Blimey - thanks for that - envelope was done and about to go in the post - don't know where Mayther came from!

Incidentally, and I don't want to poor petrol on any conversations here, but I did mention this site! I certainly don't have any conspiracy theories.

    Thanks for all your support!

I don't know if they're reading this forum or not, but despite an absolute guarantee that whatever I did JL would not refund the picture, I have just received a phone call from the CRM Director who couldn't have been nicer. She apologised for the website not being clearer and has arranged to have the picture collected on Wednesday.

I didn't dare ask her why the change of heart. She did say the email I sent her yesterday had arrived.

Wow - speechless! But thanks to all of you....
