Cinema Ticket Refund?
Comments
-
To be honest it sounds like.....
Your friend.... Can I have 2 tickets to see X
Cinema..... Yes, thats £30
Your friend pays
Cinema gives them 3 tickets
Your friend complains and gets the 3rd ticket converted to a guest pass
Given your friend was willing to pay £30 for 2 tickets and has gotten 2 tickets plus a guest pass for the same price it doesnt sound that terrible action by the cinema
Did the cinema admit to making the mistake or did they claim that your friend asked for the 3 seats?0 -
So what if the OP was "willing to pay £30 for 2 tickets". That's not what the price was.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Then why did they pay what was asked if they werent happy to pay it? (£30 in my example)0 -
That's the very definition of a strawman argument.
I might budget x pounds for something, then buy it. Then I found out it was actually cheaper than that, and the shop had made an error. Your advice would be "You paid what was asked, so move on"?

I think you're being a bit literal here.
The cinema's expensive these days and varies a lot from place to place, on different days of the week, 3D,2D...It's entirely possible in our local cinema to get 3 tickets for one film on a certain day for the same price of 2 tickets on another day...So it's hard to just look at what they're charging and go "oh, that's wrong". Add in any drinks, food etc that may have been included...add in any "combos" that the food may be calculated in...and it's not trivial to tell if you've been charged the right amount at the best of times. Then imagine you're distracted, not paying 100% attention...Yes, maybe for once in your life you don't actually read the amount due before sticking your pin in.

I've evidently spent a lot more time in a countries where there are no fixed prices (tbh even in this country to haggle discounts on most large purchases and never know if you actually got the best price possible) but yes it was a more theoretical argument hence the asking further questions0 -

dont know what sort of cinema you go too, but consessions (drinks, popcorn etc) are not paid for at the ticket points. you would pay for your tickets ( which the ticket prices will be displayed per film and i would check to see what ticket prices were before i even get to ticket point) and then you would go to consession counter for drinks etc.0 -
Then to answer your question, there are many many reasons why the OP paid that price at that time. My first thought would be that the carer at that time was more interested in the well-being of her disabled brother who rarely attends a cinema. Aside from that, any number of distractions could account for it. But the cinema should rectify the errorOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Some cinemas combine the concession counter with ticket sales (vue often do that). Saves on staff.
Can you prove it was there fault? The cinema could think you bought 3 tickets, then someone didn't turn up and so you've tried to get a refund on one of the tickets.
I doubt legally they have to refund you as they gave you 3 tickets and you paid for 3 tickets. It's probably your responsibility at that point to check everything.
