They might do a more serious checking, but modulus checking is only for the sort code and account number, not the name:
Available in printed form with a data table on diskette, or incorporated in payment software packages, these tables confirm that the account number quoted is valid for the accompanying sort code. (They do not verify that the account is correct for the named beneficiary).

Don't get why your employer would care where you have the wages paid too.

    Sorry.....

B/S do still offer passbook accounts. In fact my mother still has 2 passbook accounts with santander.

I'm trying to help by giving you other options.....

Clearly you are not liking the options being provided.

I could not careless about your situation.....

Nobody's trying to make you feel crap, but you need to appreciate the situation you're in. It's not an enviable one, but that's not our fault. No account you can get will allow you to get further into debt, hopefully you already realise that. What is so different about your job/employer that they are so extra-vigilant.

Then you need to put yourself out and find a bank/building society further afield. We can't conjure up a bank/building society where there isn't one.
