WE have unblock Us and netflix via USA site and we think it is really good as it streams to the ipad, our smart tv and another Tv linked to the wii. With unblock us you can go online on your account and you can choose a different region to stream from and turn off and on your appliance to update. We found the US has the most content, but Canada has more of the latest films, so we go between the two sites. We cancelled sky TV in the summer and only agreed to reinstate for four months when they rang in December with an offer to give us all channels for free until the end of April , but to be honest all the films are ones we have already had on the Canadian Netflix, so we will be cancelling with a 30 day notice in March so we don't have to pay Sky again.

I would also check that you have unlimited broadband with your provider and upgrade if not, as I rang Talk Talk and found it was cheaper to upgrade our package to unlimited broadband, so a bit of a result there.

I had lovefilm for a while but the streaming of films and programmes offered on our smart tv was poor and we only had the basic package of two rentals. We found it a bit inflexible as sometimes we fancied watching a film and did not like the ones we had ordered and then had nothing to watch. I like the flexibility of streamed films now.

If you want to search for something, use http://www.moreflicks.com/

It searches across all of the global netflix sites and then you can just change the region accordingly in your unblock dashboard to watch it.

I've got both Netflix and LoveFilm Instant. I prefer Netflix for TV shows and LoveFilm for movies as they have a much larger library of cult films, older films and more obscure films.

There is so much on Netflix that I found a blog that someone kindly updates with the latest releases. It might help you decide if it was suitable. you can click on the side links to see the UK, Cananda content.

    there is also http://instantwatcher.com

but that only curates the US site

Mind the great thing about instantwatcher, is that it also tells you what is getting ready to be taken off

  • So with the unblocking thing, do you need to have a seperate US etc netflix account as well? Have had netflix in the past, but never heard of unblocking it!

Does anyone know if private practice is on the us version of Netflix? Also is 24 and dexter on the us version too? I watch Netflix on the iPads and through our Apple TV, I would consider the us version but wouldn't want to lose out on dexter and 24 as I'm only on season 2 of each of them. For that reason alone Netflix has been worth the monthly subscription for us.

Don't know, but when I was googling this last night, I discovered that if you sign up for it, it gives you access to US AND UK content, not one or the other. You need to change the region via the website on your PC but you can flit between as many regions as you like apparently, and Canada is supposed to be particularly good for new films.

The downside is that it is against Netflix's Terms and Conditions to access content in other areas, so if they detect this, then they could cancel your subscription, and I suspect you would also be leaving yourself open to being sued, depending on how zealous their lawyers are, for unlawfully downloading copyrighted material.
