We currently have Lovefilm instant and Netflix, and we far prefer Netflix. It's particularly good for kids tv and films, and for catching up on tv series that you never got round to watching. You're not going to get the latest films but they do add new things all the time. Certainly worth a fiver a month.

I've tried Netflix and Lovefilm on a free trial and wasn't too impressed with the selection.

I've heard good things about Netflix US though.

It depends on your DvD player too - we have a 'smart' DVD player so we can watch it through that

If you are using an X-box you don't have to pay to get the US version! Just change your server settings/IP address or whatever and you'll get the US version for nothing. I can't remember exactly how my OH did it, but I can ask him if anyone wants to know.

We have the US one through the X-box and then use the UK one through the DVD player or iPad, becuase there are different things that are good about both. Some of the UK TV series you would expect to be on the UK one aren't, but they are on the US one and vice versa - it's odd. So well worth having both if you have a few devices.

    We love it! :)

I tried changing the settings on the Wii but it didnt work.

The X-box may be different. But I cant find out how to do it on the wii without paying for an additional service. I think it would be worth it though as theres barely anything on netflix we want to watch anymore.

Ah, we have only done it on the X-box so can't help with the Wii I'm afraid. We switch back and forward between US and UK - mainly for the different TV series rather than the films. It's handy that we can get the US one over here! :)

Never had any problems with it and it is definitely worth paying for.

Just want to say thank you so much. I've set it up for my computer and am now going to attempt to do it on the wii and ipad. You are a star. Although it looks like no cleaning will be done today, lol

We are currently trialling netflix, don't think we will be using it, a lot of the films seem to be stuff that didn't make it to the cinema and are certainly not to my taste. Only newish film I could find was Woman in Black and that is rubbish!!
    Slightly bitter
  • Was about to invest £60 plus for the Dexter boxset when OH signed up to netflix, so definitely worth the cost at the moment.

Not very impressed with the film selection, but finding it good for TV series for me and DD who's 6.
I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be

Thanks gonna try this at the weekend.

Once you've paid the fee do you also need to alter the settings on the wii?
  • We've got a LoveFilm account (post and Instant) and are subscribed up until May. I've found the instant part really good, particularly the series like Downton Abbey, 24, Desperate Housewives etc and have watched a few good films. We can watch it on the i-pad or the smart tv. Having said all that, once our subscription ends I might try Netflix again (wasn't keen on it when it first came out, not enough content) as you all seem to prefer it to Love Film.

It's very good for childrens TV/films. I wish the recommendations didn't reflect it though. Fed up of 'because you watched Power Rangers'....

More stuff on the US one as I've said so it's nice to have both for what it costs. What with Netflix, all the on demand catch up apps there are and what not... I've finally given in and gave my consent to cancel Sky. We will have free sat HD and an xbox in the lounge and that will more than do, I think.

I don't watch films at all, just TV shows. Always new stuff being added.
