He will be fine
Which practice has he gone to? 0 -
Well, he had his op ok, and we (or rather, OH as I am working) can collect him tomorrow morning.
He has gone to Beechwood Vet hospital in Doncaster, Whoop.0 -
Beechwood has a good name so thats one less worry for you. Do you use that practice as your usual Vets?
I am glad all went well, you will both be happy tomorrow when you are back together in your own home xxxxRIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxxHe is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.0 -
No, I'm about 30 miles away from Doncaster, we were referred there as an othopedic case.
I am considering changing vet, not to there, but I am starting to lose faith in my current one . I will wait until all the post op care is done though, as the mutt is comfortable at his usual practice.
I am glad you have heard good things, i was worried you were going to say the opposite!0 -
I am in Doncaster thats how i know its a good pratice. I dont use it myself as we have a brilliant Vet thats only 5 mins away. But my friend uses Beechwood as her local Vet. xxxRIP TJ. I have to say, I have been really impressed with them so far. The consultant vet made the dog feel so at ease, Rocky lay on his back at the vets feet for a belly rub! I think the vet getting the treat-box out helped considerably. He's cheap, my dog :rotfl:0

Poor old thing.
He's home, and he doesn't look very happy! He isn't interested in his nice new supportive bed, and is lying on his old one. I suppose that's probably a comfort thing. He keeps wimpering/ groaning, and he hasn't had a drink since he's been home

Well, we made it through the first night.
Last night he was crying and wimpering in pain, I slept in the kitchen with him, alternating between the sofa and the floor with him when he wouldn't settle.
This morning he's had a big drink, lots of wees and a big bowel movement, and since he has had his pain relief medication he seems a lot calmer. He's lying quite comfortably on his new bed. OH has gone away now until Wednesday, and I'm just wondering about trying him in his crate while I go and have a shower. I am worried about him trying to climb onto the settee in the kitchen if I leave him unsupervised outside of his crate.0 -
We're now four days post op.
I had a panic this morning as his dressing had an orange hue to it, but when I changed it, it was clean and dry inside- he must have brushed past the fence or something!
He's stopped wimpering, but seems very restless- I have put him in his crate for a while so I can get on with some jobs. He keeps eyeing up the settee, so I don't trust him unsupervised in the kitchen.
His leg had looked rather swollen, and he had what looked like half a golf ball of fluid on the inside of his knee, but that's nearly gone now, and just above his foot only looks a little puffy.
He still isn't weight- baring on that leg at all, but he is not holding it quite so high, and I have seen him tentatively touch his toe to the floor a few times, so I think it's feeling a little better.
I might try to go to bed tonight. Three nights sleeping in the kitchen has not done me any good at all! Either that, or I am going to fetch the air bed out of the garage!0 -
Bless hope he gets better soon. Must be horrible for both of you. You sound like you are doing a good job.0
