Hi all, just got back from my local store and they let me buy 10 cards, for Pizza Express, Next, Boots and Starbucks. The till only gave me a £15 discount but the manager was really nice and said they had been told that the offer had been "misadvertised" and that they had posters to display, but since they weren't up she would honour the deal, so I got £30 off in total. So it is worth checking your stores in case they haven't gotten the posters up yet, just a thought. Hope this helps.

Arrrh! I've been on a residential course ALL week and so have only just made it to Argos to get my Next vouchers.

Like everyone else I couldn't buy them. perhaps there were notices on the window - I didn't see them but there again I wasn't looking..

Anyway the reason I write is because the manager in Droitwich store was so smug - "they are not in the offer". I asked him if he was sure and he still chose not to enlighten me as to the change of policy just left me thinking I had it all wrong.

Sorry to have rant on here but his unhelpful smugness has made me sooo mad - don't worry, manager, I'll take my business to other Argos stores and maybe others will do too. Perhaps one of the area managers will read this....
  • Gutted deal not honoured at my local store:mad:

Posters up next to the gift cards saying that 'due to demand' the offer was now changed....nothing in the new offer that I wanted :(
  • Just got back from Tunbridge Wells Argos. I was very happy at first to see that they had a valentines offer poster about gift cards as it meant I wouldnt have to try to explain, but then on closer inspection it was about the change in promotion "due to unexpected customer demand.." :-(

Not sure why it was unexpected. Also wouldnt their sales suddenly have increased with people spends hundreds more pounds than they would off. Surely thats a good thing for Argos???

Anyway its now only a max of 2 per customer aswell.

Well done on those who managed to get lots & pay off their Next account! Im glad I wasnt relying on that or planning a large purchase item as I would have been gutted

Wanted about £40 worth of boots cards for baby stuff so not too disappointed. Hopefully Ill be able to be quick enough for the next great deal.

I mean, how did they not know that this would be hugely popular???

    Doh...

as far as i know Many Staff didnt even know about it its not as if it was advertised on TV or the newspapers or on argos windows or walls instore Only inside the back cover of a leaflet

so a large majority of general public wouldnt have known.

...i only found out on this website / PTS but like me some folk get paid till weekend so might not have had ready cash to have been able to get instore

i had to borrow money yesterday to get some Nxt vouchers ..glad i did now

I was really happy... I went to the cinema today with my cineworld unlimited card (and my £20 voucher) I was able to get 25% off with my unlimited discount and use the voucher to pay for my popcorn! For once it felt reasonably priced ;o)
Felt sick though afterwards, I pretty much ate a big bag to myself! Maybe that's 'greed' but it felt good at the time!!!

So chuffed for people that managed to get it, ESP those who got £5 off too... Wow... I didn't know about that! I didn't get loads, as I hadn't yet been paid, but am chuffed I got some.

I usually miss the grabbits, so am glad I got it for once. I also got some Starbucks vouchers as getting 25% off their drinks makes me feel better about going there somehow!

Till the next grabbit! At least they have kept some going... Going out for food is nice, Pizza Hut do the free salad bowls with every main still!

I do wish people wouldn't gripe about other people being greedy...it's the luck of the draw. Since I joined MSE there have been many offers/deals/glitches I would have loved but thru some means or another I've missed. I've never felt the need to !!!!! about other people being fortunate...the opposite in fact. I was lucky this time around, which I'm very grateful for. Next time I probably won't be.

I totally agree - i missed out on this offer, but well done those who managed to get it. Everyone knows that grabbits have a finite lifespan, so get what you can while you can - next time maybe you will miss out, so its swings and roundabouts. Plus, who knows what everyone is doing with the vouchers? - maybe folks bought their kids clothes for the year in the next sale, now they can pay off their account - great. Or share with friends and family, or whatever.

I went to my local Argos this morning and leaflet up re: restriction to 2 vouchers and limited selection.

Queued with my vouchers to be told at the till: "it is a national problem and that Argos is not able to process gift cards through the till today"

(......so don't waste your time queuing)

Thanks for the original find and posting.......

  • I have no issue with people buying as much as they wanted, but i do have an issue with Argos not limiting it in the first place and then pulling it early. I only have one Argos near me, and their system has been down all week with no urgency to fix it so i have had no chance to get any.

Well done to all those who managed to get a good deal from this.

I think good for people that got a reasonable amount. But it's those that either brought hundreds at once or paid card balances that caused the problem.

If people just brought a couple each time Argos would probably have left it. I think people going to but £200+ in £10 or £20 highlighted the problem with the deal to argos.

Then paying of your balance: ok but really if Next have a problem with it the shouldn't allow it at all (dont complain if they do change their policy). As far as I know on Next and Debenhams complained. If no one else complained then agros should have left them in. It would defo help boost custom in the other companies.

I hope argos (or another company) try again but just with some T&C.
