New Sort by End Date function

Am I the only person who cannot see the End Date option? Sorry I can't find out how to show what I see but nothing like on Andrea's post

I've just read through this thread and frankly im disgusted by all the complaining! Arent you all suppose to be adults? For a second i thought i was talking to my 15 month old! An end date sort function was put in place which actually worked great if you gave it half a chance. Instead of trying this feature though you all get on here and have a moan about the fact you dont like it. Now its gone. So for those people like myself that just got on with it and figured it out i now have to change again. You all act like this forum is here for just you well newsflash it isnt its here for everyone and I've been using MSE for alot of years now but have recently signed up to an account but i constantly see the same people scolding others when they accidentally bump posts or post in the wrong area. This is a free forum for EVERYONE! who gives you the right to scold others and moan like this is your personal forum. Im so disgusted by some of you that i had to moan myself im sick to death of seeing the same people moaning constantly if you have nothing productive and helpful to say perhaps you shouldnt bother

in its current state, it didn't work and wasn't functionable though, that was the point.

So that makes it ok to just constantly complain? My POINT is that certain members comments were unhelpful and it was an excuse for them to moan. Im aware that it wasnt 'functionable' or rather functioning for everyone but as per my previous post some of the moaning is just unhelpful. If the function had worked perfect some of the same people would have moaned because it was change

I was just POINTING out that maybe people were moaning because it didn't work. If it had worked then yes I'm sure some people still would have moaned, but not half as many because it would at least have been a system that was usable. As it was, it wasn't 'functionable' and that is why people were unhappy.

Well thank you for pointing out why people were moaning. I really dont think its worth arguing over...
I wanted to point out to everyone not just you that reading this thread was much like speaking to a class of infants. I notice a lot around this forum people seem to think this forum is just 'theirs' by scolding others for mistakes and complaining as with this thread. I will not get into an argument with you as to why people are moaning or whether something functions or doesnt function thats only going to take time out of both of our days for no reason at all.

I posted this in a thread in the Compers Corner but thought I'd post it here too as it seems some of you are missing the end date button, but maybe you don't all realise just how much you were missing by using the button and the button alone to comp.

It's alright people saying things like 'give it a chance' but it wasn't working how it should, which was the whole reason people we're getting fed up with it!

One of the major problems was that it was allowing people to put an Unknown end date (whilst the normal end date format was banned so we couldn't even use the title sort on them to weed them out!) and then not showing them up anywhere (even at the end of them all) when you sorted by end date?! How was that going to help anyone when comps go missing totally with the end date sort? It's ok people saying they liked it because it was the only way they knew as they we're new to it, but what they didn't realise was that they were missing about two thirds of the competitions posted on here by using it!

I think it could have worked well, if it had been implemented properly from the start and had there not been a heavy handed approach to banning the end date in the title!

That's why people didn't like it, not because we don't like change or we're being petty, if something clearly doesn't work, we don't like it!

I think most of us would have liked the feature, I know I would, had it been more functional, to be honest, when we got the ok to put the end date back into the titles, I didn't realise they were going to remove the end date feature altogether.

I do hope that they work on it to make it better and bring it back when it's more functional, taking into account all of the problems people were having with it.

When competitions with an unknown date are going missing completely when using it, with no other real way of hunting them down other than to do them as they're posted, and it no longer allows you to see the date in your bookmarks without adding it yourself or see the date in the tab bar for your open tabs, it's not very good.

Edit to add: Maybe some would be fine with missing that many of the competitions posted on here, but for those of us that like to at least view them all to make sure we're not missing anything good, apart from changing our comping style to enter when posted, with the date also gone from the title, there was no way around it which meant we could continue to enter by end date, as some of us have been doing for years. I think we just wanted a resolution to the problem before it got out of hand, as the more threads that were posted, the harder it was going to be to sort out.

OK sort by end date fans, hows about this to get specific comps ending on a specific date:

Go to: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=72

Select 'search this forum' from just underneath the 1 of 225 pages part of the screen.

Then select advanced search.

In search by keyword put +04/02+ for comps ending today or +05/02+ for comps ending tomorrow etc - just make sure you have the + symbol at each end.

Change search entire posts (underneath) to search titles only.

Then in search in forums select Competitions Time and untick 'also search in child forums'

Your results will then be all comps from Competitions Time with 04/02 (or any date you chose).

Works for me, hope it is useful for you.
