When I opened my post br Barclays account ALL my previous accounts popped up on the computor screen lol. I sat there thinking "oh no, oh no, they are going to turn me down" but lo and behold they simply clicked the screens to minimise and carried on with opening my basic account. I started off with just telebanking facilities and when I took proof of discharge into the branch, online facilities where activated.2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)

Thats interesting - I have been with co-op since my BR in 2009 then out of the blue on monday they sent a letter saying they are closing my account 30 days from 21st due to going over drawn (due to their charges!) Maybe cooperative are in troubleGrumpy_Shunter wrote: »Well that's just great. Now what do I do?
Just had a letter from Coop bank. Because of my Br, they're now closing my account in 30 days! I mean !!!!!!? I was assured by the staff in my local branch that everything would be OK. Well thanks Coop. Thanks a lot.
I have just finished sorting all of my direct debits and standing orders and now this.
I'm off into the city now to talk to Barclays (they were a creditor in my BR). If they can't help me then I don't know what to do.
Any help would be really grateful now MSE. Christ, what a mess.:mad:BR - 06/03/2009:j0 -
Co-op have always used a three strikes and you are out policy BUT if there has been some unusual problems and you ring and talk to them they are usually very good at listening and helping you and most often they can reverse the decision. So ring them and talk to them.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

I would go in and ask to open a basic account, just to be on the safe side.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Barclays had two debts in my bankruptcy (totaling about £70k) and they still let me open an account the day after I went BR
Online banking may be available to you - I was told I had to be discharged to get it, but just went to their website, requested it and a couple of days later the log ins came through0 -

I would throw caution to the wind about using your new online banking facility. After being lucky enough to get a basic account with Barclays whilst owing them 70k in your BR - I wouldn't want you to p*iss them off in any way.
If they get arsey, there's not many places you can go for a basic account whilst undischarged.Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy crap we dont need!:think:0 -
are barclays the only bank you can get a basic account with if BR undischarged?? what about the post office or nationwide0
