All the on-demand services are supplied via your broadband connection, so no aerial would be required in this case.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

It depends. Whats your internet speed, jackiehen? As you need an internet speed of at least 3Mbps. And without an aerial, you also won't get access to the ITV catch up Player. But everything else will work, if you have enough broadband speed.

Thinking about it, will the EPG still load without an aerial connection though?
OP, can you rephrase that. What's 'verys' internet speed? Can you get a minimum 2-3MBps? Test using https://www.speedtest.net

Yes macman, the box will work fully independently of, and without, an internet connection.

However - EPG would not be accessible (as it comes over the air). But as jackiehen doesn't have an aerial, thats not an issue anyway. As all the on demand content will still work with an internet connection.

If all that makes sense. :D

On TalkTalk? Then no, your line speed isn't fast enough. As 5Mbps is required to view TalkTalk on line content. Unless the engineer can improve your speed, it won't work.

OP: the box is inclusive from TT, the install isn't-it's an engineer install. That normally costs you £50.
VisionMan, how can you select the on-demand content you require, if you can't access the EPG?

It's not widely known this, but there are three ways to search for on demand content, the EPG, a blue button alphabet search option, and by searching each on demand player individually.

And this isn't widely known either, but YouView doesn't just provide access to a selection of the last seven days catch up TV content. Each channels on demand players also contain a back catalog library of over 20,000 on demand items. And they're free too. Cool eh?
  • i did not wat sky part just itv and bbc1 demand 4 and 5 think have to give it miss thanks for your help
