The Sony online store is currently running a sale (then again who isn't!)

All the phones come unlocked so no problems with who you sign up with.
  • I suggest you to get an iPhone. I own an iPhone5, i bought it a few weeks ago (from xphones4all ) and i`m very glad i did it! It works perfectly, very good quality picture, battery life, very good speed etc :)

Do they give a discount to their employees?;)
  • One other factor to consider is the operating system. You may find you like one more than the other. In short i agree with going to CPW and trying a few out.

    Hi

I need a new phone. My current phone is an old samsung. I want to access internet at work, have decent sized screen, take decent pics and videos. Basically I want an iphone or something similar. I don't need the newest model.

I want a pay as you go, not contract, and can afford to pay a reasonable sum upfront for the phone.

    Anyone got any ideas?

If you want an iphone, consider the iPhone 4S at a minimum (Apple are already withholding features from the 4, and it's camera isn't anywhere near as good), not knowing what you consider a reasonable sum upfront makes it difficult to be definitive, but if the price is ok it would cover all your requirements. But then a number of other phones would too.

I would say, if an iPhone, consider the 4S, if that's too expensive a reasonably priced alternative is the HTC 8S (£180-£220) which is cheap for the specs.

The Nexus 4 wouldn't make my list, it seems a "delicate" phone, easily broken and there are better made Android phones. I have also not seen any review rave about the camera.

I've got a Nexus 4 and have been really pleased with it. The camera is fine, Internet fast, phone and texting is great, can't fault it.

I got the handset unlocked and I am on £6.21/month contract with Virgin that gives me a couple of hundred minutes, daft amounts of texts that I will never use and 1gb of data.

My wife has the same phone and is really pleased too.

I agree with Guys Dad, get along to a CPW shop and have a feel of the usual suspects. I know it's down to personal preference and some will very much disagree but the new 'super phones' like the Nexus 4 and Samsung S3 are too big for everyday use imo. But whether you find this to the case or not depends on you experiencing them in your hands, I guess. I have a Huawei G300 with 4" screen and TBH I wouldn't want to go 'bigger'.

I am with you, the G300 4" screen is just right to comfortably watch a whole movie on and become immersed in it. The compromise is even so, its still quite a big thing for daily phone use, but its acceptable.

The Nexus and S3 are to much into tablet size for me, to be honest the Nexus looks a bit odd used for calls... a bit too near the Dom Jolly scenario!
