what new phone to get?
Options
Hi
I need a new phone. My current phone is an old samsung. I want to access internet at work, have decent sized screen, take decent pics and videos. Basically I want an iphone or something similar. I don't need the newest model.
I want a pay as you go, not contract, and can afford to pay a reasonable sum upfront for the phone.
Anyone got any ideas?

* Why not go into CPW and try out a few handsets that you like the look of.
* Ask the helpful salesperson a few sensible questions.
* Get a shortlist
* Then come back on here, if you need to, with that list and then you can get some views0 -
I concur, fancy a Nexus 4 myself but they are as rare as hens teeth atm. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

On the other hand, Huawei G300 for £100 (search the board for 'g300') is believed to be a very good value for money ATM. Consider it a s a starting point.
If you want to splash more, then have a look at Galaxy Ace 2 for £150-£200 and Windows smartphones.
If you are willing to pay even more the choice will be much wider, especially for Android smartphones.0 -
I agree with Guys Dad, get along to a CPW shop and have a feel of the usual suspects. I know it's down to personal preference and some will very much disagree but the new 'super phones' like the Nexus 4 and Samsung S3 are too big for everyday use imo. But whether you find this to the case or not depends on you experiencing them in your hands, I guess. I have a Huawei G300 with 4" screen and TBH I wouldn't want to go 'bigger'.0

Wait until middle of next month for the MWC, new flagship phones are always announced at it, give you a good idea of what is coming out in the near future.
Nothing worse than lumping on a phone when the next model comes out a few weeks later.0 -
Hi,
I had a Nexus4 for Christmas and absolutely loved it ... right up to the point that it shook itself off the table and shattered on the floor.
It is a lovely phone and really easy to use - it is big, however, and the official bumpers are harder to find than the phones (which are as rare as rocking horse poo!)
I think the point I'm trying to make is ... the nexus is beautiful and easy to use but super fragile .... buyers beware.0 -
What will you be using the phone for? If you have internet access what things would you like to use the internet for on your handset? Do you have any specific requirements (ie large hands, physical keys, good camera etc)? What us your budget?
People can give more tailored advice if they know these things rather than just recommending phones they like themselves.0
