  • Be aware that when I bought bikes like these from Sterling house the sizes weren't on them and they were enormous my husband could just about reach the pedals on the ladies bike and he is 6.1 not a hope in he.. that this 5.2 was getting on it.

We had to pay the 18 pound return fee.
  • I would not advise anyone to buy from Sterling House, I had a nightmare dealing with them and they were linked to a credit card/debit card fraud earlier in the year. There was a lot of complaints on here about them.
  • I've bought from them in the past - no problems, though as others have said, I think the bikes may actually be made out of lead they're so heavy...
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
  • Hi

Just cancelled my order via email 5 minutes ago and got an instant reply saying it was cancelled and they were going to send me the refund via cheque, so will wait and see, so far so good though :/

Oh and be aware that these are cheap cheap bikes. Not for anyone expecting to take up cycling seriously (do a search for more threads \ heated discussions over the worth of a sterling house bike...)

Michaela, now that you've canceled, where are you looking to get your bikes from.

I'm a fairly vocal opponent to the cheap bikes available from sterling, woolies, etc. as I think they're cheap and in my opinion border line dangerous.

I'd always recommend a decent brand second hand bike over a shiny new unknown. (Your local papers may have something?)

How about cash converters or a pawn shop - they always seem to be trading in bikes (not sure if most are nicked or not)?

Can anyone reccomend another place to buy cheap Bikes (only reason I am not going to the £99 deal is the bike will be too heavy, for us small folk)
  • I`ve now bought 6 bikes off Sterling house and would reccomend them to anyone, the latest 2 were 18 speed dual suspension mountain bikes,2 for £120,and we also paid the extra £10 for their theft insurance. These 2 bikes are certainly not heavy and work really well.
