    Morning esmf and all.

Daughters 12 week scan went well on Friday. All seems well, all is healthy and now she feels comfortable in telling the world. Up to now she has said it just doesnt feel real. First came the months of trying to conceive and when she actually found out she was pregnant she had no symptoms, maybe an increase in her boobs but that was about it. Now she has seen for herself, her baby, she says she feels that its more real.

Shopping yesterday was a bit of a disaster. So much for good intentions of cutting the cost of our food bills. £85 in Aldi and £12 in the butchers. In all fairness i keep trying to keep the costs down but it doesnt help when hubby comes home moaning theres nothing for him to snack on and eats a couple of bags of crisps at a time. Well he cant have it all ways can he? To cut down on food costs he's going to have to eat less.

The snow is pretty thick on the ground but its not snowed significantly since Friday. It took hubby 5 hours to get home when it usually takes him about an hour and a half. He said he probably witnessed more accidents on the way back than he has ever seen in the whole time he's been driving (26 years).

Talking about hubby, he's treating me like a lepper at the moment in case i give him my cold. I get too close to him and he goes off muttering 'i dont need your germs, ive got a shut down i need to do' (at work).

Not doing much today though i need to vacuum dowstairs rather badly. I didnt do it yesterday so theres 2 days worth of dog hairs to get up which makes it twices as hard to get up. Oh deep joy!

Lamb for our Sunday roast today. Mash for hubby and roasts for me and our son.

    Have a good day all.

judi - i sympathise with the shopping thing. im trying to get my shopping bill down and at the same time trying to fill cake tins etc as they constantly look around saying there are no snacks. yes there are snacks and i end up getting up and giving them a list. it makes me grrrr.
cold here but no snow. may not get dressed today have lots of ironing and may just watch films with the kids this afternoon. ive had my porridge and dh has cooked them all bacon sandwiches. then he will get on and do the roast. i never cook at weekends. i just bake on a saturday which i love anyway. yesterday i made two types of cake, biscuits, bread and sausage rolls. the kitchen sides were full. so THERE ARE SNACKS!!
ds and dd2 made a snowman yesterday ...shes 15 lol. went to @ldi and did my food shop £58 so was really pleased with that. (even though i forgot the mince - but im getting good at picking up what i need and getting out of there!!)

  • Has been snowing heavily all morning and there looks to be no let up any time soon.
Had a friend that I haven't seen for 20 years get in touch via face book yesterday, that really lifted my spirits :D
All the washing has been ironed and put away, thanks to DH who took all the wet washing including all the bedding to the launderette tumble dryers for me yesterday, well worth £3 not to have it hanging around on all the airers.

Roast Beef etc for dinner today DD will have a herbed Quorn fillet. I thinkthat I will make a syrup sponge with custard for pud. :D Nice bit of warming stodge :D

Molly I hate that form(book) as well, mine is due next year but a lot can happen between now and then, because the odious Atos have got the contract to do the spurious "medicals" for PIP that are just a tick box exercise :mad::mad:

candygirl  15 days of no food and water:eek:  I do not agree with the LCP, it is barbaric and inhuman

Missed the spam excitement on the board yesterday, what was that all about?

Jools I hope that all is well x

Oh well I had best get off the computer and peel some tatties.

A little fine snow this morning but its stopped now. We put on our walking boots this morning and walked down to church.Usually we go on a footpath through the estate but that always gets very icy in bad weather so we walked down the main road which had been gritted. Fortunately it was quiet this morning. I don't know how I'll manage tomorrow.

We're decorating the spare room so had pizza for lunch and are having an M&S ready meal for dinner-a M&S Simply Food has just opened in town and I was given a voucher for a ready meal. I've told DH that he'd better not expect them too often.

    Hi everyone.
Have been lurking and love reading what you are all up to, so decided to add what I've been up to today.
I was snowed in, and live up a very steep drive. In the past I have managed to clear the drive myself but my back is dodgy so enlisted some muscle. The lovely guys who help me with my garden. They can't do much when the weather is like this so were pleased to earn a few bob!
Anyway, the drive is done and gritted. I've also cleared the car which had about 6-8 inches of snow on it!!! Have got soup on, found some cabbage, carrots and swede left in the fridge. Have fried up some onions and put it in chicken stock - heavens knows what it will taste like.:rotfl:
    Will find out soon.....
Then I need to go and do a bit of shopping. I usually leave the car on the main road and walk up and down. I have a brill shopping trolley in bright pink, courtesy of Ikea, which I use to cart my stuff up and down. And the exercise is good for me too:)
Then, later on I need to sort out my kitchen food cupboard and rotate everything so that I use up the older stuff first. I haven't done it for a long time  I may not have work tomorrow as the Uni where I work was closed on Friday. We haven't had more snow, but warnings are severe for this area for ice. It is very cold brrrrrr.
Best wishes to you all, keep safe and warm.

Well, the soup was a little bitter, probably due to the cabbage. It's the first time I have put it in a soup and now the last. Anyway, I added a little salt and pepper and Balsamic Vinegar to pep it up and a result. Tasted yummyish and much better. So, will freeze in portions. Should keep me going for this week.

Now to dress up like Nanouk of the North an attempt to get to the supermarket.

    Hi, Lizzie !

    It's still snowing here.

We've had a lot of bird visitors to the back garden, as we've put out fat balls and seed for them, it's interesting watching all the different types of birds that flutter down.

Also, I saw something interesting when I was looking out the kitchen window (which is at the front of the house)

A couple were walking along with a small dog on a lead, and following on behind them was a fox. It's very rare for us to see a fox during the day, I suppose this one was quite bold as he was hungary. The couple had to shoo him away, but he stood his ground for a while.

DH took the precaution of bringing work home on Friday, so he'll probably be working from home tomorrow. I'm next at work on Thursday, so hopefully things will improve by then
